  1. I have not yet driven a car with ASS. We pick up our 24' Outback XT the end of the month. But I have noticed a change in how long the traffic light's now day's here in CT. Seems like only one side goes at a time, instead of passing traffic going at the same time. As I sit there, just after getting there as the light turns red... and waiting all the time for three other traffic flows to get the green light, I can see where using less fuel and fewer emissions have a place in life now. But now that I have been retired for almost 4 years, I look at things different now, life has slowed down. Waste and hurting the environment has become a thing now. I'm typing this at 1PM on a beautiful day sitting on my deck in the sunshine. Retirement is better than everyone say's it is, plan for it.
  2. Yeah, unless your racing, just a good set of brake parts are fine. I hope you check out the Brakes forum below. Lots of info there. Also think about flushing the old brake fluid out with a Motive Power bleeder or some other type of bleeder. You don't need special, I just use the qt bottles of DOT3 from Walmart. Your local auto parts store will have good pads and rotors, or rebuilt calipers.
  3. Just found this link after all these years. https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/how-to-change-battery-without-your-ob-noticing.489425/
  4. Link with banjo filter locations. https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2834394
  5. That sounds like its part of the starter...? I have not seen a "brush holder assembly" You may try here, https://www.maniacelectricmotors.com/subaru.html Have you tried the junkyards site, car-part.com For the rodent issue, I recommend Tom Cat mouse blocks. I have been putting them around the property for many years to keep mice away. I throw one under the seat in my 86' Ford F150 that always sits outside. I have them on the floor in both sheds where my power equip sits and on the garage floor. Also have some in the basement by the hatchway door. I even have one by the corner of the house near one of the downspouts, where years ago I believe mice were climbing up under the corner siding and getting into the attic above the bedroom. I have also thrown blocks in that area in the attic. Also before the garage, both my Legacy's had blocks under the seats. You can find Tom Cat mouse blocks at many places, I found my local Lot's and More still has the bag of them for $7.00 which is the same price I paid for the last bag a few years ago.
  6. If you look in the Brake & suspension forum you'll find a sticky, like Clints brake tips. I have had issues with calipers for years. NAPA honored the 12 month warranty years later, Seems the reman company had issues with a jig.
  7. We have a 23' Nissan Rogue, it also will feel like it shifts gears sometimes, but it's a CVT, yesterday, it didn't feel like it shifted at all. I tend to notice it when I pull out, to the right, onto a state road, Rt32, which is a slight uphill to accelerate, to get up to speed before traffic coming up the hill from my left. I made note yesterday, that with no traffic coming from the left the car just feel like a CVT. I guess it may depend on how much throttle you give it, along with other things the car senses. I'll add, the Rogue's engine is not as quiet as the 3.6R or the XT's when accelerating.
  8. Here, that's the driverside valve cover in the lower left With the bolts lifted up, wires removed.
  9. You know, I can say, I don't think we've ever gone to WOT in the 3.6R Outback. The car is just so pleasant to drive. I have given it a quick stab of the throttle at times to move out into traffic, but never needed WOT. Oh, yeah, the sales person called today, out 24 Outback XT is in.
  10. I agree with loving the Eye Sight and ACC. I enjoy the fact that the 3.6R's CVT is smooth. I have not noticed any shifting that is noticeable. We don't drive it hard, but the car gets more highway miles the on city streets. We'll be picking up a 24' XT later in April. Keeping the 18' also. On the test drive, the XT felt great.
  11. Sway bar end links, are a known issue from years ago. Most describe it as a clunking noise going over cracks in the driveway.
  12. My stock vf52 was fine for all the years on stock injectors. But as you know, with a custom vf52 you'll want more fuel. As they say, it's all in the tune. As Rumble said, that under 320AWHP is plenty for a reliable, fun DD. You know my numbers and trouble free miles I got, on stock fueling.
  13. I may have missed it, but, I hope you have ARP head studs for this ? You don't need the injectors just yet, you can always upgrade them later if money is a concern. With bigger injectors, you'll want a bigger fuel pump too, unless you have already done that.
  14. FWIW, I bolt the turbo on the up pipe, much easier to line things up. Use the same OEM bolt that hold the uppipe support bracket to engine. The dealers parts guys will have them. While it is out, replace the oil return hose and check the intake tube for a worn out flex joint.
  15. Agree, do not put a stock clutch in with your mods. It will not last. The Spec 2+ will work well and allow you to launch the car by pulling the e-brake and pre-loading the drivetrain.
