i would say you are wasting your money with the intake filter unless you get a washable drop in. then maybe you would save some money over the long run.

i vacuum and blow the cabin airfilter...

I would inspect the wires for damage then pull the swith and inspect that. maybe try some electrical contact cleaner, if that doesnt help put a new switch in. it is probably the most likely culprit.
