  1. For heybige and zxsimonw: See my post #393 for a simple idea for where to route the patch cord without drilling and also my take on sound quality comparing the Nano's headphone jack vs the Pocketdock line-out. Cheers, Jeff
  2. I completed a relatively smooth install of jazzymt's aux-in today, thanks to his very thorough directions and a very clean design. Also, thanks to all the previous posts for various hints along the way. The most valuable advice to me was to just clip the ground wire that goes to that miserable overtightened screw on the mounting bracket (shown on the bottom of pg. 4 in Jazzy's manual) - there's no way that screw was coming out short of drilling it. The tips and photos at http://www.n8gray.org/blog/2005/10/10#aux-in were also very helpful. In addition to protecting the various trim pieces that others have noted, I found it also important to protect the shift knob, since I frequently wound up balancing the HU on it. My Nano lasts many more hours on a charge than my typical drive time, so I didn't bother worrying about hooking it into car power. I just routed the patch cord between the HU and its driver-side trim section, at the upper rt-hand corner of the trim, just below and to the left of the cubby. There's enough flex in the plastic trim to easily accomodate the cord. I mounted the Nano on the left hand edge of the closed cubby with a couple black squares of sticky-back velcro. Although the Pocketdock combi unit provides a very convenient line-out (http://www.sendstation.com/), I don't hear any difference between this vs. straight into the Nano headphone jack - the line-out sounds indistinguishable vs. the Nano headphone jack at full volume. Either way produces great sound, with sound quality and level comparable to a CD.
