  1. Its also hygroscopic, if you have a car in a humid atmosphere I wouldn't be surprised if it swelled up and warped.
  2. Throwing it out there: If something exists that you've printed but ends up not being strong enough (at least, my ABS prints never held up as well as I wanted) I can machine one for ya. Looks good! Always fun to pop into this thread every couple weeks and see all the progress.
  3. I'll be performing the swap when my parts show up in late January. The swap is coming with everything, including BIU and ECU from a donor 2005 Outback XT to put into my 05 OBXT. Should work out well. I'll be posting to a swap thread I'll link here later. This thread is full of good info Also, I'll be recording exactly what you need to do to make the trans member fit correctly. Measurements/stock size/cad drawing of bracket.
  4. Yes, you need to fab a custom trans-member, but it can be done. In addition to that answer for @grinchy, I'm still confused on the wiring side of things for this swap. I thought that 05-07 weren't CAN bus cars? Did the ECU end up being needed to be swapped with one from a MT car? If not needed, would it otherwise be a good idea, or just a waste of money? Whats the consensus on a cluster swap, it's only needed to eliminate the CAN bus error?
  5. Okay, I have a doozie for you. I've installed a BNR 18G and supporting mods, and am at the end of tuning it with Ed at XRT. I've been driving around and the trans has started slipping under load in the higher gears (late 3rd, 4th and 5th). It's going to deteriorate obviously. This leaves me with a dilemma, should I do a 5EAT rebuild with IPT parts, and have you guys do a valve body. Or, do i locate a 5 or 6 speed MT and swap the ECU, trans, driveshaft and related parts? I'm unsure of the costs of both. I can do all work myself, so it would just be the cost of parts. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Sent from my tiny expensive personal computer
  6. Any one of you fellas have a PLA compatible hotend kicking around? My Magma hotend ******* blows.
  7. I'll do the switch spot first, after that a pocket should be easy.
  8. I think I'm going to design a replacement in-cabin fuse door with provisions for toggle switches. Sent from my tiny expensive personal computer
  9. Just going to throw this out here, I'm a mechanical engineer with a 3D printer and all required software. Want some help? Feel free to toss a project my way.
  10. Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for. I will call my dealer and grab a new bolt/filter, and save to buy the infamous kit. OCI will be every 5000k (a little under 3750 miles), Castrol Syntech 5w30 and bosch filters. Perfect.
  11. Hey there, My car: 2005 Outback XT, 2.5T, 186k km's (115k mi). Just bought the car, and it runs great. I'm about to do a timing belt swap and an oil change. What is the consensus on removing the filter? Also, can someone provide the part number for OEM subaru so I can order one from my dealer/online? after 60+ pages I cant decide to keep it or not, but I will replace it after all these KM's at the very least. I would love a concise answer on this one. Thanks!
  12. Hey fellas, So this looks really interesting. I'm wondering if there is a benefit to having the tactrix cable over just a VAG-COM cable. If it matters, I have a '05 Outback XT. I really want to do this, but I worry about bricking the ECU. I understand that 16bit ecu's are not unbrickable, but 32bit are? Reall all I'm asking, is just how dangerous is this! Thanks.
