Looking forward to hearing your results, rockhammer. The jerky performance is not normal. I drove a friend's 2006 Legacy, and it did not do this. I also don't remember my car doing it when I got it...

This is the exact situation I was describing in my original post as I'm experiencing. I haven't changed the driveshaft, either, but am curious to hear if changing the shaft and its related components...

How about for transmissions? (as close to Waukesha as possible). I want to be prepared to have a good shop to go to when my clutch dies; and I suspect that won't be long, seeing as I'm approaching...

Ah, so it's not just us driving crappy after all, as some snide commenters have suggested. I had thought maybe u-joints, so I guess I was thinking in the right area. I know the u-joints on these...

Yeah, it's not my driving either, as some of the other not-so-helpful posters here have suggested. I drove a friend's 2005 Legacy with far fewer miles than mine, and it drove like it should --...

Unfortunately, (I'm pretty sure) you can't replace just the u-joints on these cars. You have to replace the entire driveshaft with embedded u-joints. Let us know if you do this and it helps, however.

Can I hook up the rear-deck factory sub to a new aftermarket stereo without any mods? I don't really want to mess with adding an amp, as the car is getting up there in age, so I don't care to spend...

Be careful buying a used one. Who's to say you grab one out of the junk yard that doesn't have, or won't soon have, the same problem? At least go for one with as low miles as possible.

I just posted this in another thread, but it sounds like this could be your problem, as mentioned above as well.

Looking for a shop in metro Milwaukee

Anybody know a good independent Subaru mechanic in the metro Milwaukee area? I had a great one in Reno before I moved that knew the cars inside/out, backward/forward, and were incredibly honest. I'd...

My 03 Legacy is getting real jerky on acceleration and deceleration in a super-sensitive way that I can't smooth out. It's not so much a clutch-engagement issue (as far as I can tell) as it is a...
