You could try putting some lamps or spots in the driver and passenger seats to light the dash. It will look yellow if you don't use daylight bulbs, but it would be somewhere to start.

Or just get a decent laptop with a GPS setup. You could definitely do this for the same cost as a retrofit, if the retrofit's even possible. Probably less... Plus you'd have a laptop. :)
