only other thing I can add, is if I lift the car and set it back down, the rattle will dissappear for a few days

for anyone with an '07 spec B, the trans has a T70 torx bit AND a oil pan bolt that needs to be removed to drain all the oil. The same amount of oil (3.7 quarts).

The rear diff has a (2) 17mm...

repairs can be done with the wheel still on the car, do a search
on the web for "wheel...

the large opening near your finger needs a poppet (the same one that holds the splash guard underneath the car). You'll have to peel back the wheel well liner and insert from the 1/4 panel downward.
