  1. Hi there

I found your name on the forums as a reputable source of advice on tuning.

I searched but can't find a reasonable answer to my problem: the dreaded lack of cruise control with stage 1.

I recently bought a used AP v1 for my 05 LGT 5MT wagon.

As it turns out the AP said it was for 06 model on the back but since I had the ECU replaced a couple of times in 06/07 for the cooling fan problem I thought I would try it out. No problem with Cobb's most recent maps and the reflash to stage1, but now the cruise control doesn't work.

I don't have a laptop so can't go the open source route and try and clear the codes that way.

I'm looking for advice on how to fix this simply. Options appear to include:

    Uninstall AP to stage0.

Check for CEL's on the AP and reset the ECU to base map.

    NPS modification.

Unmarry the AP and see if dealer has an ECU reflash for cruise control problem.

    Get AP v2.

Any advice would be very appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Peter

  2. You need to adjust your WGDC IAT compensation table.
  3. Yes, we are well aware of the WGDC ramping. It showed up in the 2006 LGT first but it was added to the 2005 "updated" roms, 521N and 522N. It was discussed in November 13, 2006. I had actually seen it earlier but I was just a noob and didn't know if I was doing something wrong. http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1316 The fix wasn't that easy. merchgod had to patch the rom himself. However, merchgod added an easy to use button to the latest romraider defs to take care of it so we don't have to ask him for the patch anymore.
  4. 2005's with the latest dealer flash (either ecu replaced due to fan, or ecu reflashed for stutter or ecu reflashed for cruise control fix) will have the same problem as you had with your 2006.
  5. Hi mickey, and first off, thanks for the stage 1 map, it feels great! really appreciate you putting it out for for the public......anyway, I have a question about mods....i know your stage 1 maps says that except for a CBE all hardware must be stock...what about the following: short ram intake, lightweight crank pulley, catless up/downpipes....i don't mean "could I get away with these mods", I mean would my car benefit from additional tuning if I were to get any of these mods? I'm sure you get lets of questons every day from noobs like me but if you have any spare time and feel like getting back to me i would be very grateful..thanks alot . -ben
  6. Yeah. I've been thinking about this. You would need at least a little bit of WGDC to make any difference. If it is fully closed at 0% WGDC, it shouldn't make any difference.
  7. At normal temperatures, I've seen it creep up to about 13 psi in the mid-rpm range but I can't find the chart right now.
  8. It could be that the actuator is a 16 psi or 17 psi actuator and the reason the boost drops to 15 psi at redline is due to the exhaust pressure pushing the door open. That's usually what I see with MBC controlled turbos. The pressure drops at redline due to the exhaust pressure combining with the actuator pressure to push the door open. That's why a lot of MBC controlled turbos will have a tapered boost whether you want it to or not. Take a look at LBGT's AVO380 with stock restrictor pill at zero percent WGDC. Only look at the blue line. You can see that the actuator is set at 10 psi because at that point the slope changes. The door is starting to open. However, boost keeps creeping all the way up to 13 psi. So, a stock restrictor pill can cause 3 psi of creep at midrange. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg194/littlebluegt/boostspike.jpg
  9. The pill makes it creep upward. Even a stock VF40 with 0% WGDC will not have a flat boost curve.

  11. Is there a Subaru exhaust gasket for a 3 inch exhaust pipe with 2 bolts. This part wouldn't normally be on a LGT. Maybe a STi? I'm looking for a better gasket for the joint between an aftermarket downpipe to aftermarket catback.
  12. SeeeYa, do you have a log with WGDC = 0. IIRC, we talked about checking your boost first with that setting.
  13. Spec_b, I strongly urge you not to swap out your restrictor pill. This is only for tuners. You need to be able to dial in your WGDC if you make a change to the restrictor pill. What do you mean Cobb's chart. The 22326KA120 is listed in the catalog as a 1.2 mm pill. This is a confirmed size. Notice that the number is not italic. I have it and I can tell you that it is NOT 0.028. I didn't go larger. The stock 2005-2006 pill is about 1.25 mm. I changed it to 1.0 mm. That means I went to a smaller size. The 2007+ has a different size. The reason to change the pill is to change the WGDC necessary to hit boost target. My target boost hasn't changed at all. I dial in a different WGDC with the different pill size. The reason I went to a smaller pill was that under some situations with all the compensations etc... etc..., I was bumping into the max WGDC. I wanted to lower my WGDC to hit target boost. Yes, for second gear, I want to hold a much higher WGDC than necessary to hit target boost during spool up. When it hits target boost, the WGDC drops to the necessary WGDC. I needed to lower the WGDC at target boost in order to do this.
  14. I tried tuning my car with a 1.0 mm pill. It works but the WGDC needed to hit target boost is too low for my taste (40 to 50%). For anyone tuning their own car who wants an aggressive stage 2 tune, I recommend a 1.1 to 1.2 mm pill for VF40 2005-2006 cars.
  15. Is this available in Japan as well? Have you asked Paul at AVO? He's in Seattle area now. He probably gets large bulk items shipped every so often. Maybe he can get one thrown in with the next shipment? I know he had some used bumpers shipped over like that. I'm in Seattle area too, so if you can get a reasonable cost down, put me down for one.
