I think you're giving the Stangs too much credit. Over 4 years of road course competition, my '05 LGT (310 whp/2990 lbs) has been beaten only once by one - and that was an SCCA prepared 5.0 on slicks.

I've always gotten rid of bump steer by shimming...
I've always gotten rid of bump steer by shimming the outer tie rod end where it attaches to the steering arm while monitoring toe with a bump steer guage.
