  1. Still struggling with RomRaider not working. It's frustrating, & feeling like I'm just running around in a circle.
  2. OK, I've finally got the Learning View problem resolved. Unfortunately RomRaider is still being a pain. Everytime I try to open RomRaider Logger it gives me this message: "Logger definition not configured. Go online to download the latest definition." I've tried to use the files provided on the disc I received, & I've even tried to go online to use these definitions. Neither of which works. I've installed/uninstalled/installed RomRaider multiple times allwith the same results. It would be nice to finally get RomRaider to work some day.
  3. Windows XP Pro. I've tried to open Learning View by its self, but then this message will come up: "The application failed to initilize properly (0xc0000135)". It's almost the opposite of what I was getting with the previous laptop; RomRaider, & Learning View worked, but ECUFlash was having the difficulties.
  4. The insanity continues. I had to return the laptop I was borrowing to try to run the programs on. MY laptop was just delivered, & I've been trying to download the RomRaider, ECUFlash, & Learning View onto it. Unfortunately I've having even more problems, it never stops. When I connect the VAG cable & open ECUFlash I receive the message: "FT232R USB UART A400fMmc" in the lower RH corner. When I try to open Learning View I receive this message: "The application failed to initilize properly (0xc0000135)". And when I try RomRaider logger I receive this message in the the lower LH corner: "Error: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Content is not allowed in prolog". I've been uninstalling, & reinstalling the software but keep coming up with the same results.
  5. It's just about like the car. What OS you're using? Microsoft Windows XP Professional What version of ECU flash you're using? ecuflash_setup129a.exe What is the name of the ECU definitions file you're using? ECUFLASH STANDARD units SUBARU ECU definitions 0.8.3.1b Where did you get the ECU definitions file from? These came on the disc that I purchased from infamous performance Where is the ECU definitions file residing on your hard drive now? I extracted these to the file OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata I've actually tried it several times with both the ECUFLASH STANDARD units & the ECUFLASH METRIC units loaded seperately of course.
  6. Still not able to get the ECUFlash to work with the Vag cable, I keep receiving this message "No Vehicle Interface." The Vag cable will work & connect to the ECU in the car with both RomRaider Logger, & Learning View. I've tried installing/uninstalling all of the software, & all of the drivers for the software & the cable (I've lost count of all the times I've done this). But nothing I've done will get the ECUFlash to connect.
  7. Received the new base map, & was going to try to flash the ECU with. Unfortunately today both the ECUFlash, & RomRaider are not connecting; but the Learning View is connecting. Friggin computers really piss me off sometimes.
  8. Finally got it to work. It took a few installs & uninstalls. But following the instructions to install the correct USB driver, & the very nice instructions I have been able to get the ROM ID.
  9. I've first installed the drivers that came on the disc that I received in Jan this year. And I've also gone on line to download the drivers I've found listed on the RomRaider site. But still with the same results each time that I've tried to open the ECUFlash.
  10. Uninstalled the software, then tried to reinstall the software following your instructions. Unfortuntely have the same results, RomRaider, & Learning View will recognise the ECU but ECUFlash still gives me the "No Vehicle Interface" message. I did make a couple of runs this weekend & was able to record the data using RomRaider Logger. I know ECUFlash isn't necessary right now, it's probally necessary only when I get the new base map program.
  11. Very nice write up. I've been looking for some step by step instructions, being a rookie at tuning I need something like this, & unfortunately when I received the software there weren't any instructions included. I've had the RomRaider, ECUFlash, & Learning View installed on the computer. But haven't had any luck trying to figure out what need to run on my own. I've been in the ECUFlash, & always have received the message: "No Vehicel Interface". But I've had the RomRaider program open & it was able to connect to the vehicle also I had pages of optoins to select. I thought that since I fumbled through the installioin of the software I messed something up, so I unstalled everything & tried to reinstall it following the instructoins listed above. My problem now as I'm trying to follow your instructions is at step #5. After installing ECUFlash my computer automatically installs the drivers, I've tried clicking on things to stop the installation so that I could choose where to look but with no luck, it just goes on it's merry way with the installation. And when I've looked at the lower RH corner of the ECUFlash screen I keep seeing the same message "No Vehicel Interface". Am I missing a step here that will allow me to select FTDIBUS.INF as the driver file?
