I'm more than aware. It had been 4K miles since my last change, and I was changing the oil the next day. I should've checked it, but I didn't think my car would kill oil that quick.

I doubt it's a safety feature. It happens to me too, pops out once I break probably 5MPH. It sucks but I've just ogtten used to it. I'm talking to the dealer today while my car is in for an engine...

My girlfriends dad owns cash stations around the area so they cover my gas. It's nice because sometimes, when I'm in Jersey, and 91 costs the same as 87 in my area, I'll treat myself....TEEEEEHHEEEEE.
