Oh the dishes are different on the pistons. There have been some minor changes to both blocks over the years so that needs to be considered too.

Lots of misinfo in here. Both shortblocks are the same. Not all 257s had variable timing on the exhaust cams all years.

They both have forged rods, and cast pistons.

Theres no question it adds some response and cleanliness to the setup. I think it looks great.

i personally would not do the cam seals unless they're leaking. If you're doing the timing belt they're not a big job but generally to do them without removing the valve covers you're talking about...
