  1. Bumping this thread as I now have an appointment scheduled with the local dealership to have my passenger airbag replaced. For the most part, the car hasn't seen the inside of a dealership since I bought it 9 years ago, except for once when I had to have a new immobilizer key added to the ECU. Does anyone have information on the exact procedure for the airbag replacement? Whether or not it necessitates removal of the dash? I'm concerned, as I have two Defi's in the cubby pod that I'd prefer they don't touch.
  2. I get mine from FredBeans, $160 shipped for the assembly and axle nut. They've always done right by me for all my OEM parts. May just be a thing with the local dealers in my area, but they're always a fair amount more for just about everything.
  3. Have had poor results with most aftermarket wheel bearing brands unfortunately. Beck/Arnley, Raybestos, even Moogers. Have yet to try Timken however. The Beck/Arnley I actually returned to the company on a warranty claim, they we're making almost as much noise brand new as my damaged OEM had been making. Needless to say I've resorted back to the OEM's for the extra couple bucks. Swapping the two fronts out today.
  4. Please see the first page of this thread, as well as the supplementary thread links. All your answers are there.
  5. http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/jfg22557/Screenshot2012-09-03at41244AM.png ^ You can thank me later for my insomnia driven posting:lol:, oh... and this great inexpensive resource for specB rear axles too:D. Those of you who know will recognize where that screenshot came from. But, you could always pickup a set of OEM's for around $600 from your local stealership if you dont prefer reman's. Believe you are correct sir, length very well maybe sufficient but outboard splines are of the wrong count for our hubs. ...neeeed sleeeep:spin:
  6. Ill answer the one portion (or portions) that Im 95% positive about, only because Im in the information gathering process myself and dont want to misinform. Your going to need an older legacy EAT iirc drive shaft (which is shorter than our oem) due to the decrease in length between the 6spd tailshaft and rear diff versus the 5spd. Or a custom drive shaft with easily serviceable u-joints, as I come to find out that none of the oem shafts are rebuildable? (someone correct me if Im wrong) Also, as you most likely already know, you'll need spec b rear axles which are splined for the r180, as well as your oem 5x100 hubs. Unless your planning on swapping hubs which you eluded to. Dont think you need sti brake booster MC or SC, but clutch SC maybe. Dont quote me.
  7. decent spool maybe.. thats about all the vf40 has going for it when pushed. and thats not even really much to talk about.
  8. glad to see this info all organized in one thread sprank. should be stickied for sure.
  9. uh oh, now you've got me a little paranoid for my 68hta install with this kit. sprank, any extra specific pipe modifications necessary for fitment with this turbo? and if your saying the hta's fitment isnt so good, but the pipes line up nice, isnt that kinda a contradiction??? just lookin for some clarification so I know exactly what Im getting myself into when the fmic/hta install day arrives.
  10. i know its been covered before in the original thread, but matt, where did you get your black core couplers? definitely looking to order a pair myself.
  11. subscribed for my future endeavors into the world of OS tuning:). Only downside is, experimental/non-tech supported technology can be frustrating as all hell sometimes, may end up
  12. gotta say, love mine too. Did it about a month or so ago, had one HELL of a time with some pb blaster, almost a full can of torch, and of course plenty of real good ol' fashioned elbow grease. Things were locked on there so tight that on the upper bolts (harder to reach/harder angled ones) that the extension on my crappy no name ratchet set actually twisted and snapped. Never seen that before. Guess 4 years of corrosion really did a job on those nuts and bolts... Took me and my buddy about 2 hours and change to work all 4 off. Gaskets were useless, like fishbone said, essentially part of the flange and no longer a discernible separate piece. My next endeavor with my hoggy will be to add a couple more washers. Now, dont get me wrong the sound is great now, but I need something a little more "toneful" (if thats a word, which i dont think it is). Just somethin to hold me over for a couple more months until the bank account recoups enough to get my tbe setup:).
  13. do they being 17's really look too small on our cars? I've got an OBP 05 with some f'd up stock rims that hit a few curbs courtesy of the (woman) previous owner. Since I picked the car up I've been thinking of getting these. Always been a fan of the gold sti bbs's, mainly because of the great looking contrast between the obsidian and the gold (as some of you guys above displayed beautifully ). I really want them, but this size situation I read about here is kinda concerning me. Opinions?
