I was in the same boat a couple of months ago....

I was in the same boat a couple of months ago. Followed the same troubleshooting steps you did. Turned out to be bad valve clearance on the driver side.

If it's an 05 GT, it is most likely the B25 heads. In any case, you can usually buy the heads without any internals:

I don't think you'll be able to improve the sound much. Problem is that the waterproof/protective case blocks most of the sound. Unless, it can be taken off? I am not sure, since I don't own one..

Looks like you used a GoPro camera right? That would explain why the sound is muffled. These cameras are known to provide beautiful HD videos but with poor audio quality.
