Unfortunately that didn't pan out, the wiring harnesses were completely different and the digital hvac requiring the installation of a couple of extra sensors that the manual controls didn't require....

it depends on the year of the 2.2L engine. the phase 2, 99 - 01, ej22 is a direct swap. no worries except the flex plate may be different if it is an auto.

earlier ej22s will not work.
