  1. I just completed this upgrade but I used Eibach springs. The only thing that made job a PITA was the fact that the front strut bolt was nowhere near long enough to reach the bottom of the front struts through the hole I had to drill. It delayed the upgrade until I was able to find a M12x1.5 bolt and nut at 40mm in length to pull the strut in. I was barely able to get the bolt in 3 threads before I could tighten the nut to pull the strut in. Get yourself the longest threads you can find on a M12x1.5 bolt and nut. I had to visit 4 hardware stores to find one! It sure would have been nice if Koni would have thrown in a piece of M12x1.5 all-thread and a nut. Grrr! Other than that, the upgrade was a MAJOR improvement in handling on my 2011 Legacy! Now I can throw the car into turns that I previously had to slow way down for.
  2. So I'm about to order koni inserts and eibach springs. My car is a 2011 2.5i. A lot of what I see as far as fitment leads me to believe that there is a difference in fitment for the springs for 2010-2012 and 2013-2014. Is this correct? I would hate to tear this car apart just to find out that the parts dont fit my 2011 strut housings. "Eibach Spring Set. Model # 7722.140. 4 spring set. Eibach Spring Set. Model # 7722.140 4 spring set. For 2010 and 2011 Subaru LEGACY models." I don't want to lower the car more than an inch because the wife will surely destroy the front bumper cover again.($1000 including paint) I'm looking for firm but not too aggressive feel. Am I on the right track here?
  3. Perfect! Thanks! I'll order those. Yes, I have a 91 SS running vf39, equal length stainless header, 3" stainless turbo back. Custom wta intercooler, 100hp nitrous, eim management, sti struts and springs, GT sway bars, gt wheels. This thing is a ton of fun on the dirt roads on the hills where I live.
  4. I've done a ton of reasearch (including that link) and I was just looking for clarification and direction. I am not trying to spend a fortune on a DD. I am very pleased with the STI setup that I installed on my 91 turbo legacy, and I was hoping for a similar option for my 2011- Great and cheap solution. Thanks for advice on the Konis. I'll now research which Konis, inserts or complete package, spring options, etc.
  5. Ok, so the rears will go right in. Perfect, most of the sloppiness is in the rear. As far as the fronts, can I relocate the mounts or will the heat generated from welding toast the seals inside? If I go with the WRX rears, what would be the best struts for the front to match? There is also a ton of roll in the corners. I understand that an STi rear sway bar will fit but will that tighten up the rear too much? Would a regular WRX sway bar be better? I have to do something because the rear is almost out if control on some bouncy corners.
  6. I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of 2012 WRX struts to upgrade my saggy, floppy 120k mile struts on my 2011 Legacy. It appears that I can use 2008 on up struts but I want confirmation before buying a set of struts that I will have to resell. Thanks!!!
