It sounds like the shop is measuring end to end not, the way its list in the service manual page above.

That works fine you have manual AC controls. If you have the automatic AC system, the controls and radio are on the same circuit board, and options are much more expensive and limited.

My guess is that you have a bad torque converter. There was a TSB on them for the 4th gen, it was similar symptoms. You can probbaly find it with a search.

Definitely shouldn't behave that way.
