The knock is coming from the engine, but I don't think it's coming from the cylinder. If it was I would expect to hear the knock when in neutral, but it only occurs when the car is in gear.

That isn't the cause in my case, unfortunately. At least it's still under warranty - even though i'm sure the dealer will charge an arm to look at it.

I have an 08 MGT. Within the last month or so I've noticed a knock around 3000 rpm. The knock only occurs when the car is in gear - if I rev the engine in neutral I do not hear the knock.

I had to use nail clippers to trim the four...
I had to use nail clippers to trim the four little corners off the white tab to get this to work. Before I trimmed them off, I couldn't buckle my seatbelt without re-enabling the seatbelt chimes.
