Welded center diff, R180 and DSS axles. I'm going rwd because I live in Texas, I've never had to really use awd. The one time I had to, two years ago, I drove the Forester. RWD will be much more fun.

After the ECU resets, such as after pulling the battery. The ECU needs to relearn how to idle. Drive like normal the next day or two and let if fall and catch itself at idle. See if it gets better....
