I had this problem and traced it to exhaust shielding that was rubbing on the driveline. It only happened in winter and hard acceleration in low gears, maybe the heating and cooling of the shielding...

My dealer wants $180 for a new hvac blower motor, anyone know a better place to buy online? This is the one under the glove box, bearings are going bad in mine.
