I do not think that noise on cold startups is the turbo. Its your starter sticking which is a fairly common issue for people in colder climates. I have the same issue :)

No problems here. My LGT kicks ass in the winter. Maybe on some crazy 2 foot dumps I'd be cautious. But, 99.5% of the time, you'll be fine.
