You might be thinking of the STi which still has the VF39/43/48 STi style turbo and TMIC setup which is not a bad design. (Just very heat soak prone like every other TMIC)

Anything above 20psi is not recommended on pump gas. Chance of detonation is too high at boost above 20pai without something more than pump gas.
