Reinstalling the steering knuckle to strut

I took the steering knuckle off to replace ball joints and cv joints. When I removed the strut-to-knuckle bolts, the strut extended down (from spring pressure I assume). Now I'm having a difficult...

Also you can have a radiator shop test your radiator. They will pressurize it and make sure it holds pressure. I don't think it costs much to have it tested.

Yes, if you see steam, that indicates a leak from the radiator that should not be there. I recommend replacement before it gets out of hand and overheats.

That does not exclude the HG's though...

Just to wrap this thread up, the inner CV joint on the passenger side was the culprit. It will bind sometimes instead of flexing. After I took it apart I don't like the sound/feel of the wheel...

NO, there is not a pressure relief valve. That is pretty much the function of the overflow bottle.

With a 1.8 you can do the HG's pretty easily with the engine in the car. If you aren't...

"Characteristic Bubbling" does make you wonder about the HG's. That's not normal!

As for the coolant disappearing, your radiator shouldn't be steaming. If you see steam, then you have spotted...

Thank you, Kennyfvholla.

The bearings (12 and 6) feel solid. The tie rods (3 and 9) have a little play. I've seen much much worse though.

Every wheel and tire SHOULD be balanced, and...

Suspension/steering problem

I need to fix a problem quickly because this is my only vehicle at the moment and drive 120 miles a day to go to work - I REALLY appreciate thoughts.

This is an intermittant problem. When there...

Wow, the CEL is on. That seems like a no brainer place to start. 5 codes:
1. Mis in 3
2. Mis in 4
3. Knock Sensor
4. and 5. both related to crank position sensor.

I deleted all codes, and...

Strange No-Start problem

On my dad's EJ22 with EJ25D heads in his '98, he has a condition that I will be looking into this week (traded him cars - wish me luck!).

Sometimes, his car won't start. It will always turn...

I'm at my whit's end with the junkyard motor (EJ22 from a '95 legacy wagon). It runs perfect, unless of course its hotter than hell outside. Engine temp makes no difference, it is outside air...

Gee-Otto, I think you've misunderstood, I'm suggesting the opposite. DOHC heads from 1997 EJ25D (not sure if rev 1 or 2 - these have the solid buckets with no HLA), bolted to a 1995 EJ22. I'm not...

More research makes me think a 2.5 crank in a 2.2 block would result in pistons almost 2mm above deck height unless there are some pistons with a reduced compression height or some shorter rods.

Any chance I could swap an EJ25 crank in a EJ22? That + DOHC heads could be in the ballpark of 9.4:1. Depending on where the deck height ended up of course.

Haven't seen an answer to my other post, so I will pose a new question that maybe can be answered. '97 DOHC heads from EJ25 on a 1995 EJ22 - is that an improvement over the stock SOHC heads?

Cylinder Heads, pistons, other?

I'm going to replace the HG's on my new engine (1995 Legacy EJ22, swapped in place of a Gen 1 EJ25 in '97 GT) as PM and wondering if any significant gains from swapping heads. I have searched for a...

I picked up a 2.2 from a 95 Legacy for $300, 150,000 miles. If the 2.5 heads check out, I may put the DOHC heads and intake on the 2.2 in while. Either way, I am looking forward to some better...
