  1. I confirmed the Tribeca (06) vb is moddable.... by Modding it. If you own one give climber some consideration will you.
  2. Well I couldn't help myself... I pulled the wife's 06 Tribeca vb and modded it. A bit quicker install this time. No issues and shifting after 20miles is going as suspected. MUCH better! Perhaps an expanded albeit very small group of vb mods climber can help with.
  3. Chiming in one last time to say that the VB is fully in sync with the TCU now and still love this mod to no end. The sport mode teaching finally settled down and really brings the H6 to life on the freeway and has become the default setting for me. The upshifts are seemless. Manual mode is also really responsive and frankly a lot of fun when I am feeling a bit more spirited. If your still on the fence about this mod, it's time to get off and get 'er done.
  4. I thought I would post my initial review here for exposure reasons. I installed the transgo shift kit in my 06 outback h6 this last weekend. I have now logged just over 100 miles and this mod is in a word... AMAZING! THE shift response is crisp and responsive. The downshifting is a real hoot too. The tcu is still learning so some hiccups as described by others here is prevalent for me as well. The 4_5 shift in sport during low throttle is still wonky but man what a difference. I was not happy that subaru paired such an efficient engine with such an inefficient transmission, but turns out it's just the shoddy shift behavior that is the issue. I want to give major props to climber and others whom pioneered this endeavour (lt.columbo, frankster, koukis14 to name a few, sorry if I missed anyone else). The ez30d was a joy to drive before but now has gone to extraordinary. The strength of the h6 is the flat torque curve and now the trans can keep up. Combined with my suspension swap out she is now truly a highway cruiser. I can't recommend this mod enough. Even if you are stock don't hesitate on this. Well worth the money. Give climber a buzz... Do it.
  5. She's in the car now. Tcu acting weird as was expected but I can already feel a difference. 2-3 and 3-4 snap in nicely. Definitely well worth the time and learned a bit in the process. Putting in that inhibitor switch was slightly nerve racking. Would have been in quite a pickle if that went awry.
  6. Climber... finally tackled this mod thanks to your great insight and unselfishness to post this despite a lost sale. I just have the DIY blood flowing through my veins! I didn't drill any passages nor did I put in the reducer. The mods were a snap with your tips. I will wrap up the install tonight, reset the Tcu, and report back my review in a week or two. Climber... I sent you a pm http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/02/22/8eme5amu.jpg
  7. My bad on the reply your response wasn't directed that way but I get it, no harm done... absolutely disagree, I had upgraded ST pads before the GT conversion. Night and day friend. I apologize for the offtopic however. Enjoy!
  8. I performed the LGT brake upgrade and LOVE it! Got LGT calipers/stoptech blanks/stoptech pads and the difference is night and day. The difference in the rear being vented rotors and the fronts are about and inch larger diameter. This was an H6 by the way.
  9. Ok... exhaust velocity... hows that? Edit... did some reading and backpressure seems to be the correct term. Let me know it I am off. Exhaust velocity is effected by back pressure in NA engines. So an exhaust leak I created with the washers caused back pressure to drop and thus sluggish throttle response? Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk 2
  10. Sadly I had to remove the mod last night. It messed with my back pressure and my throttle response seemed a little flat. After removing and driving to work my throttle response has returned. OH WELL... it was fun while it lasted. I'll miss what times we had
  11. Thanks for the install walkthrough. I just put a set on my lowered outback and were just what the doctor ordered. I now have my eurowagon look/feel. Only problem I ran into was the shaft going limp on me while trying to install the tophat LOL! Other than that was a breeze. Running right now at 1 turn from soft and I think I might go another 1/4 to 1/2 turn as once the struts settle in it they will probably soften a touch.
  12. Thanks Climber... still have my LGT brake system & STI BB/MC upgrade to do so the transmission is going to be after that. Have to save my pennies again. Thanks for the offer though! Cheers and keep up the great work.
  13. Fantastic write-up. I would be immensely interested in doing a DIY mod kit. I love getting my hands dirty. I have no qualms getting the VB out and taking it apart. Thx Climber. Do you sell the transgo kit?
  14. Just got my STI BB/MC and am doing this in conjunction with upgrading the outback brake system to LGT system. Really looking forward to the increased braking capacity. Thanks for the mod. Cheers!
