All the German oils including Liqui-moly, Fuchs and Pentosin are very good products, which are sometimes used as the factory fill in various European vehicles.

According to Amsoil Tech Services, the HTHS viscosity of their 0w-40 is 3.9 Cp @ 150C. For comparison the 0w-30 is only 3.1 Cp. So that's approx 25% thicker....

For a non-turbo Subaru there's no reason to run anything thicker than a 10w-30, unless the engine is excessively worn....
