  1. Sold my car so no longer need these roof rails. These were the factory roof rails for the 2005-2009 Legacy wagon. They were produced by Mont Blanc (model MB3747-B-02) and are very hard to find. I lost the rubber end cap so I covered with tape. $100+shipping.
  2. SOA is claiming they did the recall back in 2014 by applying the corrosive wax and given this failed 9 years later it is not related to the recall. At this point I am not really sure my options with SOA unless someone has an internal contact.
  3. Thanks. It is only the rear that has failed at the distribution block. I found the post about moving the distribution block under the rear seat and that seems like the best solution.
  4. Opened a case with SOA and the case was rejected as the car was old. I spoke with SOA stating that the car isn't high mileage, the car has been in CA for 1/3 of its life, and there isn't any rust besides some underside surface corrosion but they wouldn't budge. Unless anyone knows someone with SOA, I am going to file a NHTSA complaint and see if there is a cheaper alternative.

  6. I noticed a pool of brake fluid by the rear passenger tire and knowing this was likely related to the hard line brake recall I dropped off the car at the dealer. The dealer confirmed that they applied some anti-corrosive wax as part of the recall in 2014 and that the leak was coming from the brake hard lines. They also told me it would be over $4K to repair the hardlines from the front to the rear of the car My 05 wagon only has 135K miles and there is no rust besides some underbody surface corrosion. I can understand the rubber brake lines needing to be replaced with age, but the hard lines should last the life of the vehicle. Has anyone been successful in having SOA paying for the repair?
  7. Thanks, I actually only checked the tie rods (updated the OP). I have front remanufactured axles with 30k miles, so maybe they are on the way out?
  8. I have noticed a clunk/pop noise when I turn the steering wheel to full locks (U-turns or parking lots). There is a single clunk/pop noise which only occurs after I turn the wheels to almost full lock and then start unwinding the steering wheels back to center. It sounds like something is sticking after I unwind the steering angle. The front ball joints are new and there is the tie rods when I jacked up the car. Any insight would be appreciated.

I am the 2nd owner having purchased the vehicle from the original owner in totally stock condition in 2011 with 51k miles on the car. My goal for the car was to add performance, while also maintaining reliability and comfort. Because of this, mods were focused on improving performance while keeping the drivability and reliability as close to stock as possible. I succeeded with this vision and the car has been reliable all the way from 11,000ft elevations in Colorado to 120F heat in Death Valley.   11. Thanks for the inputs. Both CV axles have been replaced in the last 30k miles, so I hope it is not the issue. I will see if there is any play in the steering which might indicate a bad tie rod.
  12. A few months back my mechanic replaced both my front ball joints and top hats to fix a clunk from the front end along with doing an alignment. After this I noticed a binding/groaning noise from the front passenger side at slow speeds when making tight turns. Based on feedback on the forum I flushed my power steering fluid, but this had no impact. The power steering has been consistent and I haven't seen any leaking fluid. Any ideas on what i should check next?
  13. Thanks, I found my PS fluid at the min line. I am going to flush it and see if this resolves the issue.
  14. My mechanic recently replaced both my front ball joints and top hats to fix a clunking from the front end. While the clunking noise over uneven pavement is gone, there is now a groaning noise when I turn the wheel hard left/right at low speeds (such as parking). The noise only occurs at very slow speeds with significant steering wheel rotation. Any ideas on the cause and should I be concerned?
