I have an 05 2.5i with 125k, I had some similar issues in the low rpms and replaced the plugs, wires, coil pack, and valve cover gasket because oil was leaking into spark plug tubes -- car ran well...

I would try replacing the sway bar links before the struts -- always try the cheapest fix first. I had a similar problem on a ford taurus with bad sway bar links (bushings) and it would clunk over...

I know people who have driven w/o those front sway bar links --- it won't handle well, and might dip a lot in turns, but should be driveable if that's all you broke.

front sway bar links? -- it's the short...

front sway bar links? -- it's the short connection between the front sway bar and the struts. the bushings wear out and you'll get a clunking noise.

I keep one of my summer tires in the trunk in the winter, and one of my winter tires in the trunk in the summer. Fits fine w/o the foam tray.
