when I am on the highway, the car feels like its gliding, but when I go over a small bump/road crack, etc. I notice a dull hit in the supsnesion.

The brake pads themselves are not hard to replace.
However, the brake shoes (parking brake pads) can be a bit difficult if you're not familiar with what you are doing.
