  1. I just did both my front windows. Yup to the vapor barrier, motor, etc.... the passenger went out, so I just did them both.
  2. I have never heard of someone replacing their OE Fans.... Unless you keep your eyes on a part out/junk 5th gen Leggy.
  3. Word to the Mishimoto fan shroud with SPAL fans. The Mishimoto fans are horrid.
  4. I love these! Motul fan boi - only stuff I use in my GT for the last 215K miles
  5. Upgrade the fork. and the pivot ball too - why go put that OE weak stuff back in?
  6. If its a valve.... you will lose compression. Easiest way to tell, you idle rough. This is what happened to mine - I melted the edge of one - complete loss of compression. I originally thought it was a ringland or piston (rebuild time) but, a tech recognized the symptoms and threw the "valve" possibility. I didn't have any smoke out the back which was another point towards a bad valve. A quick pic of the valves showed it. Hope this is what you have - much cheaper to fix.
  7. Don't know if I need to part out or sell as is. Cylinder 3 is done. The rest is beautiful. Just can't do this again. Here's the build list: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/islandborns-lgt-build-tracker-251472.html Im located in Houston Texas. You can offer, I'll let you know if I bite at it. PM me. Just upgraded the radiator too.
  8. Hope you read up on the old people stuff. Lots of how to, oops, mistakes, and quick fixes. But, finding people who know the platform (not just subarus) can be tough as the tuning is vital. The car is quite a unicorn out in the wild - we get lots of attention, especially when you start building it up. Good luck! I've had my fun!
  9. after 200K miles my radiator was on borrowed time. So, upgrade time. Plan A: replace radiator and thermostat with OEM parts. (smart) Plan B: upgrade radiator to aftermarket (same specs as OE) and replace thermostat (smarter) Plan C: Go fat radiator and replace thermostat. (rabbit hole) I went with Plan C. Radiator: https://www.rallysportdirect.com/part/radiators/vh091662-koyo-aluminum-racing-radiator-manual-transmission Thermostat: 2015+ STI OEM (lower temp) Well... then I ran into problems. With the bigger core radiator, my stock fans wont fit. I have piping for a FMIC and it limits space. SO! ordered the Mishimoto Fan Shroud with fans. https://www.iagperformance.com/mishimoto-aluminum-fan-shroud-kit-with-plug-n-play-harness-for-2008-14-subaru-wrx-08-18-sti/ I'm good right? NOPE! The fans are horrid. They don't pull what they claim, and with that thick core - even worse. And I'm burning up sitting in traffic - like getting to 234 degrees! Not good. So, fan swap. Best fans on market? Spal. I get a "medium" low profile that fits in front of my pipes (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/spu-ix-30101522) and the larger "medium" (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/spu-ix-30102029) on the other side. I remove the Mishimoto fans from their shroud and put the Spals on. Now I'm happy. Sitting in traffic... maybe gets to 196? After some hard running then stop I get to 206 but then it cools it to 200 quick. SO! Should everybody do it? No. OEM fans are awesome. Don't ever change them. A normal koyorad at OE specs is fine, and if you want the thick one, again, KEEP the OE fans. Note: Mishimoto fans are not good. But their shroud is wonderful.
  10. So just for fun... (crap pic - sorry) Wells Fargo allowed me to do this so I figured why the hell not? Is it overboard love affair with my car??? Wife wants to know why not her or the kids??? I said "babes, we are all in the car together!!"
  11. I can't see them even entertaining the idea.... and why? Sell a new one, easier for their techs, good warranty, and again, they make more money.
  12. Why will nobody do a rebuild? Option, find a good shop, have them pull the trans, then crate it to someone (who knows subarus), they swap the gear out, then crate it back, that shop slaps it back up and you are good to go. I just did this. Much cheaper. To crate the trans from Houston to Dallas ran me $200 each way. Just a thought - Otherwise, you are right about replacing the clutch - great time to do it. Also, swap out the clutch fork and pivot ball with the Versus stuff (https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/fr-s-brz-gt86-billet-clutch-fork-pivot https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/forged-clutch-fork-2015-wrx) Sorry about your luck. Like I said, this just happened to me - blew up 3rd gear (broke some teeth)
