  1. My '05 broke (rear diff or center diff - horrible grinding noises in all gears), and I needed a car.. This was in 2019. Subaru had nothing I was interested in. Didn't want another LGT due to the really outdated stereo. Wife can't drive a stick and commuting SUCKS in a stick, so '10+ GTs were also out, as were STis (thought long and hard about those - but was unimpressed by the price-for-power ratio), and wasn't interested in a CVT. Sometimes, a manufacturer just passes you by. I'd love it if I could have gotten my Stinger in the body of my LGT wagon. But, aside from maybe not-as-good AWD system, everything else in the Stinger is better, and if I'd bought out the lease (didn't due to covid), I would have paid about the same in adjusted dollars as I paid for my '05 LGT. 400+ whp with just a piggyback, no turbo upgrades required, no pipe changes, no pump upgrades, no massive engine build, etc, etc..
  2. Yes, 5EAT. By the end, it was pretty modified: -one of the first bnr16g turbos, DW650s, Walbro, various tunes -Grimmspeed TMIC, gutted up -Cobb sways, Koni shocks (had KW coilovers ready to go in) -Hexmods F1, diff bushings -Wilwood BBK -HID retrofit, '06 mp3-compatible head unit -probably a few other things I forgot..
  3. Still subscribed to this topic . I do miss the wagon some days - it had great visibility and rear legroom and storage for its overall size. OTOH, in terms of power and features, the Stinger blows it away - and for roughly the same price 15 years later (if you adjust for inflation).. Hard to believe I joined 19+ years ago.. This is probably one of the longest running web-boards on the 'net.. I mean, it was around before Facebook was public..
  4. I had a Nexus 7 - it wasn't nearly as easy as it seems.. I eventually got it flashed (I think) but it never seemed to be quite as described - the kernel/ROM was hard to find by the time I did it (Timur was out of the game), and was trying to find a way to mount it (had a separate trim piece for it, etc) and it required a lot of guesswork and then the rear diff died (I think) due to a flat tire and no TMPS so I drove that way for 20-30 miles. I've never not noticed a flat before, but that time, I was pre-occupied with a family matter. At that point, I decided it really was time to move on to something else. The Stinger HK sound system is so much better than the LGT, even if it could be better with phone integration, etc. There is no comparison between the 3.3TT and the EJ, IMHO. I had GST (well regarded Subie shop) install my BNR16g, and the dyno was something like 160 whp on their Mustang dyno stock. After the bnr16g + pump + injectors, IIRC, I was ~220/245 whp/wtq. The Stinger is a few lbs heavier (~3900 lbs instead of 3400-3500), but even stock, it's low 300s whp, high 300s wtq. Like 310/380 (with some getting into the 400s for wtq). That's STOCK, which is already faster than my modded EJ. Stock to stock is no comparison - roughly 2x the power. With the EJ, adding turbo + injectors + pump + gutted UP/DP, I picked up ~60 whp, maybe 80 ft-lbs (cost: $2-3K+, IIRC)? On the Stinger, just doing intakes + plugs + jb4 (total cost maybe $750), installed in 2-3 hours even for a guy like me who's slow - I would never tackle a turbo install myself - you can pick up like 60 whp / 80 wtq easily. If you're willing to mix E30 (I was already mixing in a bit of E85 for my LGT so yes), that can go to +100 whp / +100 wtq. Lots of guys running 400+ whp / 475+ wtq with that setup. Or nearly twice the power of my "modded" LGT. If you're willing to run WMI (I'm not) and some bolt-ons, it's pretty easy to get close to 500 whp / 600 wtq with a Lap3 tune. On stock block / head. No EJ runs 500 whp / 600 wtq on a stock block. Not even 400/500. (I've tried not to exaggerate, but I'm sure others will point out any errors I may have made)
  5. Still subscribed, but haven't had an LGT for 3.5 years now. I miss the visibility and rear seat legroom. Do NOT miss the 2005 tech (no HD radio, no backup camera, etc). Also, not really fair to compare with the current ride in terms of power (2.5T --> 3.3TT). Price wasn't actually that much different, if you account for inflation and the lease cash I got at the time..
  6. Last post was 10+ years ago. I had one, it worked quite well. Maybe check ebay?
  7. Basically, find a C-channel piece of aluminum that fits over-top of the fingers/bends of the TMIC and holds them tightly - I found some at Home Depot pretty cheap - cut 4 pieces to size, and find a way to pull them tight against each other (i.e. one on top, one on bottom). 4 pieces total, 2 on each side, about 11.x in each, IIRC? I ended up doing half DIY, half with this kit. I cut the pieces a bit longer, drilled holes and cut threaded rod to size and made 2 bolts, one on either end and tightened it down pretty well. They stuck out a bit, made it hard to put the engine cover on. This kit cut a small groove in the middle section of the C-channel piece on the OUTSIDE and used a strap going all around to tighten them down. Definitely nicer, but not within my DIY toolset / skillset. Sorry, don't have pictures anymore..
  8. My Corrado VR6 was pretty fun - Forza 7 does a pretty good job of re-creating it. I modded it way too much - Quaife, supercharger, final drive, 5th gear, PSS9s, etc. Ended up significantly less reliable than the usual unreliable VWs I had before ('84 GLI, '90 GTi 16v). It was a BEAST when running, though - 260 hp, low gearing, etc. When I bought the LGT new in '05, my nightmares about driving a car and having it break down while I was driving it became significantly less common :-)
  9. Yeah, but 265 hp 6 speed? G70 has that with the 2.0T - not sure they've sold many manuals. Hyundai/Kia actually has several manual options, IIRC.. Plus, I don't see AWD with that - it'll be FWD. And there is still the Jetta GLI manual..
  10. (just to be clear, I am talking about the TLX, not a possible ILX Type S) The fully loaded 2021 2.0T TLX is $49K. No price yet announced for the 3.0T version, but obviously, it will be MORE than that.
  11. Sadly, the "Type-S" 3.0 turbo SH-AWD model will probably be mid-50s or more.. Unless it's significantly more spacious than the stinger, no compelling reason to switch..
  12. All stuff from here except the spark plugs, free for the price of shipping: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/ca-spark-plugs-boost-leak-adapter-ocvs-mirror-headrest-motivx-283911.html
