  1. Sold #57 a few weeks ago to a great guy in Dayton, OH. Not sure if he's on here, but he's apart of the local scene and has had previous Subarus
  2. Yson, just get a Hurst knob and save yourself $100 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31WZX8G0WXL._SY300_.jpg
  3. Kamak is definitely the higher-end turbo. Wonder how much difference the 5 blade vs 6 blade really is. Let us know how the tuning goes!
  4. Yson still refuses to go ELH ( -_-) Also put on a front lip so we can do photos soon
  5. I wouldn't worry about it. While it's an unfortunate scenario, it's not like any other turbo companies have zero failures.
  6. Just out of curiosity, how long ago was it that you bought the turbo?
  7. How much psi were you running? I'm at 1.4bar tapering to 1.3bar, and running an anti-lag of sorts. Hope I don't blow a blade off As a side note, I also have Kinugawa EL headers en route to me. I'll post up some pics, but that may be for another thread...
  8. I might have 1~2k miles on my car, since I walk to work, but I just visited my tuner buddy to get off spring pressure this past weekend. All I can say is 'GODDAMN!'. He wasn't comfortable having boost set to 20psi to redline, due to age of the engine, no FMIC, no external gate; so it spikes at 1.4bar and tapers to 1.3. It pulls hard at 1.3, but truly shines starting at 1.4 bar. I am super happy with going ful option, and the 18G is a great fit for my driving preference!
  9. The boost threshold is pretty low on the turbo. You can feel it start to get into boost in the upper 2k range, and then it starts hauling quickly from there
  10. Yeah, I am in the middle of E-tuning with my buddy. He wants to get all the fueling, AVCS, timing, etc. set up and out of the way. That way, when my other friend and I go up to visit him in Michigan and hang out for a weekend, and to get our cars tuned, he can then do the "fun tuning" (upping the boost). As of right now, it is still on spring pressure, but he thinks we are close to getting it all dialed in. That being said, this turbo has already far exceeded his expectation, and mine. So much so that he has bought himself the TD05 20g billet STS for his new EJ207 swap. Daily driving, it is much stronger than a stage 2 car, doesn't feel noticeably laggier, has incredible transient response, and it already pulls like a freight train at .9bar! I would really recommend to everyone, save up just a bit longer and splurge on the STS/billet upgrade. It is truly worth it!
  11. Slightly OT, but how about an LGT IC splitter? Edit: While I'm sure you guys would have an awesome IC solution, to those of us who already have an aftermarket IC, an affordable splitter upgrade would be a great benefit to the community
  12. I'm still in the middle of being tuned, but even on the basemap, I can definitely tell that there is A LOT more of a usable power band. I don't consider it laggy at all, especially on-and-off transient boost response. My tuner's friend thought that the spool video I posted was a normal ball bearing turbo, not a journal bearing
  13. Very nice!! Be sure to post your thoughts when it's installed
  14. This is really confusing as our local friend who has the distributor account is Bruce, and Kinugawa's rep is also named Bruce . Small world... But glad to hear that if you guys contact them directly, that you're given the option to upgrade!
