  1. How many different brands/ mfg of VB mods are there? Is that 5EAT "Chilton's Guide" almost printed out or what? Just kidding. Who has time for that type of stuff?
  2. I saw a Stage 2 5EAT with a Valve Body today, but then I saw a stage 3 5EAT e85 tune with NO VALVE BODY! I was like, "This isn't supposed to exist". He explained that his tune was set to not give full boost until the torque converter was locked up, and that fixed the issues with blowing the 5EAT? Is he blowing smoke my 5EAT gurus?
  3. Since the 06-07 engines are the same, couldn't you use those years transmissions interchangeably? There are a couple 06 5EATs on Ebay right now.
  4. Which transmission years are compatible for swap? eg. could you put an 05 onto an 06,07, an 08 on an 09?
  5. ^^ that sounds kind of dangerous... Is it bad to use your transmission to assist with braking? I was under the impression that the ECU has to many fail safes for you to over rev on a down or up shift.
  6. Can u swap a button shift Momo for a later model one with paddle shifters?
  7. Does the valve body mod for the 07's kill the autoshift at the redline?
  8. A couple I've been wondering about... Is there an average mileage range when failure can be expected? Does using manual mode decrease the lifetime reliability? What makes the 05-06 Transmission different than my 07? Is there a logical modification process to building up your engine with a 5EAT? Thanks!
  9. The write up worked well, but a few things I think I would do different to save time in the future. Invest in a 1/4 drive socket wrench with some 3/8 adapters. It's a smaller wrench... Duh, so it fits in some places without having to use a Uni/Knuckle. And also, to save time on the driver's side, I pulled off that black plastic tube (What's it called?) that hides the coil pack. It's got a clamp on the front of the tube that can be squeezed with pliers. Just pull down and toward the fire wall to get it unhooked. When I got the coil pack free with a 1/4 drive, I used my 3/8 drive and a 5/8 deep well with a 3/8 socket on top of that. It gave me JUST enough clearance without pushing my socket wrench up against the wheel well. I love this stuff, but it was a BITCH of a job!
