  1. The towers, which hold the crossbars, sit on rubber pads on the edges of the roof, and they're held down by clips that fit under the side window gaskets. It's always a good idea to wash and wax the roof before installing the rack system, and to put lots of wax where the towers sit. Then, when you put the rack system on, you want to make sure the rubber pads are totally clean. With this approach, I've not had scratching problems on any of the cars I've used this on, (Audis and Subarus). HPH
  2. I've used Yakima racks for about eight cars now, so I have lots of parts. When I got my 08 LGT.B, I therefore bought a new Yak setup, bars, the towers, and the clips for this car. I ordered them through a local bike shop, but the online approach would have been as fast and the same price. HPH
  3. Oh! Quarter-mile 100. Gotcha. I thought maybe you were steering from the back seat or something... HPH
  4. Is the 100mph club like the mile-high club? HPH
  5. Um...Subarus with hood scoops are pretty well known to be turbocharged versions, no? So this means that unless you change out the hood (and put on an FMIC), your sleeperivity isn't really going to work, I'd think. From only a rear view, of course, this isn't so much of an issue, so then it would seem that the non-turbo'd OEM badging would be the first step. But, personally, I like no badges at all. They get in the way of waxing. HPH
  6. Right. (I had an 05 STI, with the BBS wheels in the 5x114.3 pattern and saw your LGT is an 05...) As long as we don't have poor unsuspecting folks running out and buying the 05 and up STI wheels, life is good. And they do indeed look good. HPH
  7. Uh, aren't the true STI BBS wheels drilled at 5x114.3? Where'd these come from? HPH
  8. The OP in this thread motivated me to put my stock airbox back on, too. This was no small thing for me, as I'm an all-thumbs sort of under-the-hood mechanic. (For example: when I was done, the car wouldn't start, providing me with my week's worth of adrenalin all at once. I figured out pretty quickly that I needed to reconnect the battery, but it was panic city there for a minute.) All-in-all, it was much easier than I thought it would be, and that Giant Sucking Sound is, of course, blessedly gone. There's still the Boxer grumble, considerably more enhanced than in my wife's Outback XT; and that's just fine. I can't speak to the torque thing, as I didn't drive it enough to get a real feel. But there are no weird lights showing, and it sounds happy. Thanks to Mike for the suggestion! Now I'll have to resist the siren call of the AccessPort... HPH PS: If anyone wants a slightly used SPT intake (from an 08 LGT.B, about 3K miles of "used"), pipe up. It's got the heat shield, too.
