APS Inlet Pipe and JDM TGV Deletes Install

Well, after some problems with the turbo I was installing, I found that I needed a new inlet pipe for the turbo...

So, I will document my installation of the APS Inlet pipe in this thread, along w/ TGV deletes while the whole thing is open. Here are the pics as I begin to remove things...

Have fun :) When I did mine I just pulled the entire intake manifold.

praedet 03-19-2008 07:09 AM

^^^I'm trying to get there, there are just SOOOO many connections to the intake manifold

Just suck it up and disconnect them all :) If it makes you feel any better I can swap the intake manifold on my BMW in about 15 minutes :)

I know, I can to the same on my Nissan

How do you disconnect the connector that is at the very back of the inlet pipe. it is a tube going to a white connector that has a gray plug on it...

That's part of the PCV system, It's an electrical connector and there is a tab on it that you need to push in.

People need to learn the stock inlet isn't like a $5000 hooker you can get rough with, be gentle with her.

Is that a grounding wire I see?

Actually, from the pictures I think Ted's inlet pipe is bad for the same reason mine was and, I suspect, many who get around to taking the turbo off after two or three years..... the damned boot degrades and that ignorant clamp eats it.

Make sure whatever clamp you use on the APS is one without 'holes' in it.

$5000 hooker???

praedet 03-19-2008 11:07 AM

I was gentle ;)

Oh well, looks like more work...

And yes, my car is at least as powerful as the Spec-B because of the grounding system... (Or I just get better radio reception and the kit was free )

You can install the APS inlet without removing, or even lifting the intake manifold, but it involves quite a bit of wrestling and liberal use of swear words

rao 03-19-2008 11:45 AM

It definitely can be done, but imagine how mad he will be if he breaks something else or damages the new inlet :)

praedet 03-19-2008 12:09 PM

Plus I am going to do TGV deletes since the Intake Manifold is off already. TGV deletes can not go in w/o removing the manifold

So, all the parts get here on Monday. I guess it is a Spring Break project for me

I will try and get down to the actual block by the weekend to take a few pictures.

I am not worried about getting everything disconnected, because it won't come off till all the connections are. I am terrified that i will forget to reconnect one of the bazillion connections as I put it back together

There's a high probability of that happening.
