Servicing Cooling Fan relay TSB with AP map gone?
I got my TSB and was thinking what I gotta do to go in for servicing.

Since I have AP stgII and full exhaust, if I restore my base map in, will Subaru be able to swap the relay and still check my ECU even with the CELs for the exhaust, mostly the mid and downpipe extra flow since I have a resistor for the upipipe?

I have headers, up, dp, and catback,..

From what I understand, the area of the ECU that is changed by the AP has nothing to do with the area that the TSB will change.

With that said, it's better to be safe and unmarry your AP before you go in.

Your other mods will not effect the dealers ability to check your ECU.

They will replace your entire ECU meaning physycally remove it any any of its contents on it from the car and replace it with a new one.

The TSB calls for the replacement of the Relay and the ECU hardware.

They only change the ECU if your fans are running all the time. If thats not happening then your realya didn't short yet and didn't affect the ECU.

They will just change the Relay for the fans. I would revert to stock and did just in case. I also heard the ECU's are on backorder.

CELs should be fine as long as you dont drive for too long after unmarrying it. it usually takes some time for the CELs to pop up on the stock ecu (~200 miles? and/or two starts?)

I didn't bother. Pretty obvious if your fans are on or not. If they are, unmarry the AP.

Dealer lets the car cool down to below the tick a third of the way up on the temp gauge and start the car to see if the fans go on.

Lots of folks say to unmarry anyway, but I don't know of any dealer/thought process that would have a tech 1) hooking up diagnostics to begin with and 2)reflashing without any reason.

Cool,..I think that there are some I-club and other forum members that would know about an AP flash though,..

FYI, if you are on Oahu the service department is out of the fan relays. I dropped off my wagon this morning to get that (and some other stuff) taken care of, but they are out and will not be getting any in for another 2-3 weeks or so.

Just pull the 25A fuse under the hood for the primary fan and let the secondary fan do the work. Problem solved. Worked for me, but I had to because I've got the EcuTek reflash. Don't want to spend the money again.
