32" Windows Media Center INTEGRATED TV

6 Attachment(s)
Hey guys (and gals),

I am selling my Multimedia TV that I made. It is a Syntax Olevia LT32HVE 32" LCD HDTV. I built a Windows Media Center PC into the back of it (making the TV not wall-mountable).

The MCE System has the following components:

1x MSI PM8M-V Socket 478 Motherboard
1x Intel Pentium 4 3.0E Prescott 3.0GHz Socket 478 Processor
1x CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)
1x Samsung 250GB EIDE HD 7200/8MB/ATA-133
1x XFX GeForce 6200 256MB AGP w/DVI/TV-OUT
1x VANTEC NXP-305-BK Black Fan & Light Controller Panel (Blue Cold Cathode Light Tubes)
1x D-Link Wireless-G Network Card
3x Ultra Silent 80mm Fan (Dual Ball Bearing)
1x Thermaltake PIPE 101 CPU Cooler for Intel P4 & AMD
2x Visiontek Xtasy Theater 550 Pro PVR w/Remote
1x Shuttle 220w FlexATX PSU
1x Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 w/SP2b (Legal/Licensed Copy)
1x HP dvd640 External DVD-DL Burner w/Lightscribe technology

This TV is FULLY FUNCTIONING. The TV functions like normal, with all inputs, etc. Once plugged in, you turn the computer on on the side of the TV. Then, you use the TV like normal. The PC goes to hibernate when not in use, and wakes up to record shows, then goes back to sleep.

I made this TV for a project, and am looking to upgrade to a new TV heh. I realized my need for a MCE machine, but lack of desk space, so I built it into my TV.

The PC boots DIRECTLY into Windows, bypassing Windows completely (Not the normal "Start MCE on Startup", this doesn't boot into explorer shell at all, bypasses it entirely.

I am looking to see if anyone is interested. Feel free to ask me any questions. Local pickup preferred. I offer NO warranty, but will offer tech support where I can. I built this myself, so I know it in and out. I have been using this TV as is since October as my primary TV (for Media Center, Xbox 360, and DVD watching).

Looking for ~$1300 OBO.

I'm not gonna lie...that's one of the coolest things i've ever seen.

Too bad I just bought an acer 37" 1080P :((

Well, not a bad TV either!

Truthfully, I'm making about 3 more of these for a Business Plan Competition at my school.

So, I need to get rid of this one to fund my further project with the next one. Works amazingly great though!

Bump, any offers at all?

Updated parts list, now throwing in an external burner as well. Willing to ship as well, will cost ~$90 depending on location. Also, I work at my local UPS Store.

So basically it will function like a Tivo as well as do everything else a TV does? I'm new to some of the integrated, cross-over stuff, so I don't quite always understand.

dude that is a sick setup...I would never even think to do this.

I think that just having the media center connection to my computer is awesome, but this gets rid of all the wires and frees up space.

Excellent idea! I wish I had the money cuz Id be all over this... my Xbox 360 needs some HDTV love

best of luck with the sale

Yup. I have always seen Windows Media Center as a MUCH better solution that Tivo. This is a PVR/DVR, plays Music, Movies, Pictures, Radio, Divx, etc.

Thanks man. Yeah, this saves the space of having a second computer for this reason. Also, if you have another MCE system in your house, you can use them in unison. Or, if you have a 360 on another TV, you can extend it to your 360 to use MCE. Thanks for the bump!

yeah i record the shows on my laptop right now, and then stream them back to my reg. tv through my 360, so it works out quite nice...just with the cable and IR transmitter wires in the way:icon_bigg

gotta love the integration between microsoft products

very interesting idea to attach the computer to the tv. im shocked its not getting too hot though, unless its loud w/ fans). personally i have a love hate for MCE 2005. Works great for music and vids, not so hot for PVR compared to stand alone comcast dvr or tivo. waiting for vista mce.. yum

Nope, doesnt get too hot, and its not loud either (it uses Vantec Stealth fans).

IMHO I like MCE 05 better than most PVRs, because of their drawbacks. If it would make this sell better, Ill put Vista on it for you guys

My next system like this (which will be done in about a week)

Will have Vista Ultimate, SPDIF optical audio out, etc.

That's awesome. Seems like a really good price with everything too. I'm buying a house, so any frivolous expenses are out right now. Good luck!

Do you go to RPI?
