Upcoming AVO products - Gauge Pods

Ok, got the gauge pod in from AVO mothership to get started on this.
This is the LHD 52mm Gauge Pod (with a AVO boost gauge with it's hood).

And here is the AVO LHD Legacy/Outback gauge pod after master craftsman Ross went at it with cutting equipment, bondo, and lots of sanding and shaping.

Now we are getting this prototype sent off to be used as the master mold. It is not going to be long at all now to be offering these pods on their own, or for use with our boost gauge or multi-meter gauge for the Legacy GT and Outback.

Cheers,

any estimate on cost???? im interested

axis008 12-04-2004 04:40 AM

In addition to cost, will you be offering it in 60mm sizes as well as 52mm?

jim1969 12-04-2004 09:45 AM

will you be able to get the color to match the dash color or is the color it's going to be? The only other problem I see with it is that here in NY, we HAVE to mount our inspection and registration stickers on the windshield in that lower left corner. How does this mount up?

daytime photos would be nice too, if possible. if the housing is as grey as it looks to be, I'm not too happy about sitting it on the dash. still looking for the best boost gauge solution....

You'll have my order in the day they're ready to ship.

Paul,

Does AVO offer an English unit that displays in PSI and In Hg vacuum? I know that America is the last bastion of the old measurement system but those darn metric values just seem to lack something.

Just to show my ignorance, am I correct that +1.0 kg/cm = 1.0 Atm = about 15 psi ? Just too much math for us old fart Americans!

You are about right on the measurement. Apologies, but the tooling was done for the metric, one of the (dis)advantages of being an Australian company originally. That's why we are offering such a deal on it - otherwise, it is a very quality unit, with the built-in hood for daylight, nice-backlighting, and good old analog boost readings for accuracy.

But back to the Pod itself, which is the main item of discussion. I will take daylight pictures of it as soon as possible. The color was not spot on for those photos, mainly because it was hand-painted. It is just a prototype, we will get the color closer for the final products.

Pictures from above will be taken as well. It is interesting the information about the stickers needing to be in that location. If somebody can get me a photo of such, I'll see if another pod could be made to address that concern.

Cheers,

Any updates? I'm dying to install my boost gauge!

Still in need of a pod! I need to know if these are going to be available soon or should I start building my own...

Paul,
Here's a pic to show you where the registration and inspection stickers are mounted in NY. Notice the location compared to where the guage pod will mount.

We're at the 2-month mark. Any news, or will I be making my own this weekend?

Trying to get the car in some time this week to do a color check on it. We are nearly there with it, but just need a bit more time to make sure it's correct.

Cheers,

Many thanks!!!
