Will these parts fit?

I'm trading my 03 WRX in and getting an 05 Legacy 2.5GT Ltd Wagon and I was wondering if the STi Short Shifter that's in my WRX will fit in the new Legacy. What about my summer rims (Rota Tarmac II - 17x7.5 and 48mm offset - I think) with 215/45 rubber?

The rims/tires will work but I doubt the short shifter will.

It's been confirmed that the WRX short shifter will not work.

The stock WRX shifter, however, appearently DOES work...:P

I thought the ball was a different size?
And what would be the benefit to doing it? If there is one, I still have my stock WRX shifter...

You just swtich balls! :P The benefit is shorter throws! Maybe add some kartboy bushings...and cheap short shifter!

Yes it does. All it takes is that you swap the ball's on the shifters and it will bolt right in. I just get tired of reposting it over and over again since it seems no one either reads it or remembers....

So how do you remove the ball?

This is my stock WRX shifter: http://premium.uploadit.org/cultofth...for-sale13.JPG

Jedimaster: Take a look at the bottom of the shifter where the white ball is. You will see a black pin that goes through the ball. Take a small pointed chisel or tap and tap the pin out with a hammer. It will come right out. Do the same on the stock legacy shifter and put the ball from the Legacy shifter and install it on the WRX shifter and tap the slide pin back in. After your done grease it up and reinstall it and your done. The Legacy shifter is secured with a 'C' clip which is what holds the shifter in the linkage. The 'C' clip is probably the most difficult part, and even that is easy.

Drift Monkey: Yeah I know you remembered. You are good about absorbing information. If it werent for you and the few others, then I would feel I was waisting my time even posting my findings.
