Bring me your Plasti-Dipped wheels!

Just like the title says, I want to see your creations with Plasti-Dip. Conservative, wild, or completely out there and experimental, show off the fruits of your labor.

I'll go first, mine is pretty simple. Matte black dip on my stock wheels. I'm not sure if I'll keep them this way or go over them with the bronze metallizer spray to make more of a deep gold color.

Avoid the metallizer at all costs! I tried it out over the black to give them a dark gold look, it came out completely uneven so I had spots that were covered in cheap looking glitter and spots that achieved the effect I was going for. I found myself going over the gold with white at 4am in the dark just because I couldn't stand to let my car be seen like that in the daylight. I have heard the new metallic stuff is much better though.

Damn the full car dip is sweet!!! How durable is it though? are you getting chips or pieces peeling off the front due to rocks? How long can you expect that to last?

And Jbagony, thanks for the tip! I'll leave them black until I can order up the new gold metallic stuff.

Keep them coming everyone!!!

That looks good! Did you make up the mix or did you have a guideline or place you sampled from? I sort of want to do something slightly darker or teal or purple. Something is going to happen this winter though with some dip!

kaho8930 08-07-2013 10:03 PM

i don't have any guideline but if you want to have some idea ...you could check the forum of DIPYOURCAR.com

scoobyroo 08-07-2013 10:06 PM

I didn't realize there was an associated forum. Good call!

I've been thinking about this for a while. Did you do solid black base and last coat mixed or all coats 3:1

^Haha I'm now browsing the dipyourcar.com forum and I just saw your car.

mbazzano88 08-07-2013 10:42 PM

For those of you with the whole car dipped...what kind of cost and time investment did that take? Anybody know how long you can expect something like that to last in good condition?
