Install Bonanza - Springfield VA

Going to be installing a fairly large group of parts in April--specifically between the 14th and the 19th. Basically my wife is leaving to attend a week-long class--while this means that I've got daddy day-care duties on my own for the week, it also means that I'll have two cars available and my evenings will be pretty much free after 7.30pm or so. I plan to throw the wagon up on jack stands for the week starting on Sunday afternoon and continuing until everything is done.

Here's the list of parts / what's planned:
  • Spark plug change
  • Cobb Downpipe
  • STI Up Pipe
  • Grimmspeed EBCS
  • Forge BPV
  • BP TMIC Kit
  • PLX Wideband
  • aFe Air Filter
  • Oil Change, MAF cleaning
All of the above needs to get done all at once for my stage 2 tune. Assuming it all gets done here's the rest of the list:

  • PCV Valve replacement
  • Stainless Steel Brake Lines and flush
  • TRS Retroquik HIDs
  • Grimmspeed Master Cylinder Brace
  • Group N Transmission Mount
  • Front / Rear sway bars with end links
I'm pretty comfortable with most of the installs and have done a number of them before. That said, if anyone feels like stopping by for support or to do some wrenching that would be cool. I plan to work each evening from about 8pm to midnight. If you want to stop by shoot me a PM and let me know when you might swing by and also if you are looking to help install anything in particular--would be great to have some help on the HID install and the PLX wiring in particular. I'll probably have a friend or two around on some of the evenings already and will have beer in the fridge.

I am a sway bar specialist. Do you have all my tools now?

I've got the tools pretty well covered. I've got air--impact gun and 3/8" air ratchet--and I have an Ingersoll Rand W7150, I know you love that one, I do too :) Impact sockets, extensions, etc are on hand, a set of combo wrenches, ratchets, breaker bar, blah blah blah. And kroil, although the car met salt for the first time today that I'm aware of so I don't expect rust to be an issue at all. Sawzall is on hand just in case I need to get angry with endlinks.

That said, feel free to bring whatever you'd like--it never hurts!

Through sockets?

Actually no. The gaping hole in my tool set is still the missing set of ratcheting wrenches--I have them in standard size but not metric.

I'm feeling the same way. Hopefully this coming week results in several things actually getting installed

Mine isn't all that bad I just don't have a day off in the next 2 weeks.
Up, Dp, avcs and oil feed, and now I'm in the hunt for suspension and tmic. Hope you can get it all done that's a monster list

Nice I too am doing some installs next week all suspension. Do you have or know where I can get a spring compressor??? I dont want to buy a set, my plan is to build the KYBs+ Htechs on the bench so I can simply unbolt OEM and bolt in OEMv2.

Any suggestions? I always see you buying springs, struts, CO's  Needed tools etc

Advance auto rents them for free! You pay ~$50 up front and you get it all back when you return them. Ask at the counter.

Fuel pump has been installed and removed from the list.

I'll be working almost exclusively in the late evenings, 8pm-midnight or so.

I'm on single-dad duty for the entire week. It sucks to some extent, but the benefit is that once the little guy goes to bed I'm free to work on the car.

Because of the timing I don't necessarily expect many folks to be able to come by or I'd be hounding this thread more. I have a few local friends that will probably be hanging out some or all of the evenings and anyone else is welcome to stop by.

What I could really use some help on is the wiring of the PLX and the VBG1 gauge and the HID retrofit. Most of the other stuff I've done before.

what size is the bolt on those compressors ? 17mm ? I have 1/2 drive tools so i should be able to get the on and compressed without too much incident.

Also is there a certain clocking that the spring should sit on the perch?

BarManBean 04-11-2013 08:33 AM

I think 17mm sounds about right... You'll be fine with those tools, or stop by and I have air / electric impacts if you want.

Springs should sit one way, you should be able to figure it out based on putting the springs / struts together--it's pretty obvious.
