Kinugawa Turbine housing

Any thoughts, I wouldn't run one of their full turbos but looking to see if anyone has seen how their turbine housings are. Looking for something smaller than I currently have.

What do you currently have? I can tell you from experience their 8cm2 TD05 / TD06 housing actually measures to about 8.5cm2! The 7cm2 one works very well.

I have a 20g td06/8cm kinugawa turbo. This turbo is amazing. Why wouldn't you run one of their turbos?

Here is my side by side comparison of vf40 and kinugawa 20g

system60 03-18-2013 05:18 AM

Currently running an avo 420. Didn't mind the lag till I drove my friends wrx with a vf39. We had our cars tuned on the same day, I made 317hp/312tq and he made 305hp/350tq both at 19psi. I'm not hitting peak tq till around 4500rpm like most other people with the avo 420.

fahr_side 03-18-2013 05:32 AM

So you lose 1,000rpm in spool to him and about 35wtq. Ouch.
You're looking at the Kinugawa housings for the GT28RS? I don't see one in their range that has a Subaru style flange, only T25/Silvia types.

Tell me about it, I'd be livid if I had bought it new for full price. I could have sworn I saw a subaru fitment one on there the other day, I emailed them yesterday to see. I've seen some on eBay but I'll buck up for the avo380 housing before going that route. Almost wonder if I should just run the pdx330 I had picked up from praedet.

Personally I'm not a fan of the small 16G compressor housings the PDX uses, but hell, anything will do better in the midrange than that AVO420. Note that AVO has upgraded / updated the exhaust housing on the 380 not once, not twice, but THREE times. Be careful when shopping for those. ;)
Of course ATP has a Subaru flange housing for the GT28RS, but I kinda doubt they sell them separately.

system60 03-18-2013 11:33 AM

Yea Atp doesn't sell them separately.

Just heard back from Kinugawa, they said they should have them available around the end of the month.

Cool. In what nozzle area or A/R?

Didn't specify, but I was leaning towards the 8cm till I reread your post about it being a bit bigger than the avg 8cm.
