Can we make a sticky as to what STI brakes are compatible with the 5th gen? Ive been looking for more info on this but can only find 4th gen stuff.

If someone were to write a comprehensive thread on fitment, id be happy to sticky it.

Take the plunge. Its not as bad as you think. Find a buddy with a caliper and mock it up. See what it looks like. Brackets are easy to fabricate. Hell, my Durango has custom cut and powdercoated spindles for a bracketed wilwood kit. Not nearly as expensive as it sounds.

Front Rotors/Brake Pads

05-09 LGT will fit for both.


As for the rear rotors and brake pads, we have to buy what is available for our current gen. I haven't found anything so far that is compatible with our rear brake setup.

I thought the 5th gen had larger front rotors than the 4th gen?

I had hawk hps pads on my 5th gen, front & rear. I didn't change rotors as they only had 10,000 miles on them when I switched pads.

05 and up front Brembo calipers fit, 08+ for rear Brembos.

04 STi rotors up front to fit the 5x100 bolt pattern. Then I think people were having 08+ STi rear rotors redrilled for 5x100

Here's my gathering from reading this "sticky"

Parts from other models/years that fit our 5th gen

2004--->up Brembo FRONT caliper
2004--->STi Front Rotor
2008--->up Brembo REAR caliper
2008--->up rotors will need a kit. KNSbrakes sells them as of this post, but not sure if Fred beans sells them.

Any 2004 STI wheel

2008-2012 WRX rotors and brake pads are direct fit according to RCE.
Checked 2011 Legacy 2.5i rotors and brake pads are same product number as the 2008 WRX so it looks like the 2008 and up WRX or 2011 Legacy rotors and pads

When I was comparing part numbers, the 4th gen had the same part number as the 5th gen for the front rotors.

As for the front brake pads, it looks like the Hawk HPS for the 4th gen fit the 5th gen.

So 2008+ STI Front calipers will work, but not the rotors?

So for the BBK upgrade, it would be wise to buy a set of 2008 STI calipers and just get 2004 front rotors and dual drilled 2008 rear rotors from KNS?

Check with KNS brakes. And, from the original thread, my understanding is that the STI Brakes are a direct fit for the front...rotors included.

You need a kit to make the rears fit.

However, you can go the 2008+ WRX route and they will all fit (replacement/upgrade parts for worn out parts)

Going the TI/Brembo route would cost me around $2000 in parts alone. Before I do that, when I'm getting replacement parts, I will get steel braided lines, slotted rotors, and better pads. (I know the slotted rotors will make the pads wear faster...I just want the "bite")
