Local Groupbuy: Primitive Skid Plates

4 Attachment(s)
Hey folks,

I recently started talking to Paul at Primitive Racing about possibly doing a local group buy of sorts on some skid plates. I figure it's gotta be cheaper if he's able to ship a number of them at once, plus any discount that might come with ordering a number of them. Everything would be shipped to one location near Springfield, VA and the plates would need to be picked up there.

I don't have pricing or numbers yet, but will update here as I find out more. For general pricing, check out the website (http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/skid.htm). In talking to him a while back, a basic 1/8" skid plate was $215 + $25.55 for shipping. $18 extra for fumoto access and $16 extra for oil access.

If you are interested let me know and I'll get a list going.

Teh list:
  1. BarmanBean ('05 OBXT) w/Fumoto F105s 1/8" front $199 no holes, no mod needed for Fumoto = $199-12%=176+18=194
  2. BMB's friend ('12 WRX) w/Fumoto F105s 1/8" front $199 + $20 for Fumoto placed oil holes = $219-12%=193+18=211
  3. xero287 ('11 WRX) w/oil hatches 3/16" front $239 + $20 + $50 bolt-on oil hatches = $309-12%=272+18=290
  4. tsunami ('07 LGT, tomei ELH) w/Tomei EL Headers and Fumoto F-105N oil holes 1/8" front $199 + $20 for Fumoto Oil holes + $18 header spacers = $237-12%=209+18=227
  5. S0CalGT ('05 LGT JDM ELH) w/JDM Spec C EL Headers no holes 1/8" Front $199 + $9 mild header spacers = $208-12%=184+18=202

UPDATED PRICE BREAK DOWN (assuming 6 orders):
  • All 1/8" front skidplates: $199
  • All 3/16" front skidplates - $239
  • Fumoto cutout&valve add on - $49
  • Fumoto cutout only - $20
  • Oil access holes - $20
  • Header spacers - $20

Updated Pricing:

Use the above values to figure the price of your plate. Take 15% off and add $15 for shipping. All plates would be shipped to Springfield, VA.

For example, my plate would be a 1/8" + fumoto cut out + oil access cutout ($199 + $20 + $20 = $239 - 15% = $203.15 + $15 = $218.15)

The 1/8" skid plate is $199 on the site now and the 3/16" is $239. Either way, I'm interested :)

Let me know what car you have as well. I don't think this will need to be limited to LGT / OBXT only. I have a couple friends with WRXs / STIs that may also be interested.

Can I get one for my car?

I need this. 2007 Legacy GT. Now what to do about those fmic pipes. How "easy" would it be to cut the plate in order to allow the pipes to go through. I currently have the Racerx

Anything is easy with my angle grinder lol

Just to make sure, these skidplates would also clear my tomei elh right?

BarManBean 03-04-2013 10:44 AM

If you have aftermarket headers you need to let me know. The skid plates are designed for use with stock headers, thanks for making me clear that up.

I would imagine that Paul might have solutions for aftermarket units but would definitely need to know in advance. Honestly I'll have to check.

GrimmSpeed setup here so I'd imagine I'll be fine.
