Blown Turbo

Sad day today.. my turbo gave out. I took it to Carr Subaru in Beaverton and they said my warranty wouldn't cover it because I have many mods on my car. So it looks like I will be out the $2100 they quoted me.

If your looking for a vf-40 pm me. otherwise go talk to PRE they have some great deals on turbos installed. 16/18/20g

Dang sorry to hear that Justin. Hope you're back up and running soon.

Like a93x said, call PRE.
For $2100 we could both get a 16g installed.

BNR 16g is only 800, A day to install and not only are you fixed, but you're upgraded (if you were still with stock turbo that is.)

You should also make sure it is just the turbo before you start handing out money.

Drain the oil and look for metal shavings. Depending on how your turbo went, you may have introduced metal into the oil system which can take out your shortblock quickly.

Highly recommended to do an oil flush, clean (or remove) the banjo filters around the turbo and if there are shavings you need to replace the oil cooler.

Good luck! And like everyone else said... run away from the dealer.

This! I have done quite a few turbos on GTs and a few had to have the short block done as well from metal shavings. Actually have one at the shop that came from the dealer because they quoted the customer waaaaaaaay too much.

And hey, just something to live by....

Well just a quick update... I got thr LGT over to PRE and after going under the knife it appears she maybe done for awhile. Cylinder 4 has a crack in it which is gonna cost a pretty penny to fix.

I am thinking this just maybe an omen of things to come, so I am thinking about selling her as is. What does an 05 LGT 5EAT go for with blown turbo and engine?

It's value - 6K
so maybe 6-8Kv depending on condition and miles

My friends 05-07 OBP wagon went for 6K when her ringlands blew :/ she owned it for a total of two months of something it sucked. And I just dropped a brand new motor in mine.
