My Lightweight Crankshaft and Alternator Pulleys Just Arrived
My Grimmspeed crankshaft and Beatrush alternator pulleys just arrived today by USPS EMS. I didn't expect it to arrived so quickly. I was expecting it delivered either on Wednesday or Thursday. Anyway, I was amazed at how good the pulleys looks like and also how lightweight they are.
http://borjaphoto.com/temp/pulley pic1.jpg Immediately I went to my car to compare them side by side with my OEM pulleys. This is how my OEM pulleys looks like at least for my JDM 2010 2.5i CVT Legacy. http://borjaphoto.com/temp/pulley pic4.jpg Comparing the Beatrush alternator pulley with OEM pulley. It's confirmed that they are exactly the same in build and size in diameter. http://borjaphoto.com/temp/pulley pic2.jpg Here's another: http://borjaphoto.com/temp/pulley pic5.jpg Here's the crankshaft pulley comparison. It's confirmed that the diameter and thickness are the same. I will probably need to buy a new stretch belt just to make sure. http://borjaphoto.com/temp/pulley pic3.jpg http://borjaphoto.com/temp/pulley pic6.jpg |

2010-2012 Legacy ( both 2.5i and GT) changed belt layout to single pulley. Is your engine dual AVCS or single? Interesting the same rusty stopper rods are there, as on the US engine but the belt system differs.

wow, that is bizarre compared to the USDM model. Looks like one belt turns the alternator and the other turns the AC compressor.... Electric power steering??
*waits for a flood of USDM owners to buy GS crank pulley and be disappointed when it won't fit* |

That's a great observation. So many people have a tendency of not reading EVERYTHING in a thread, or not UNDERSTANDING what they are reading and jump to conclusions. It will happen. |

Finally got the lightweight pulley installed today. It was really PITA to remove the bolt of the crankshaft pulley. But after trying and trying, finally got it out and installed the pulley successfully. My initial impression was the engine seems to rev much faster and engine vibration seems to have been reduced. Anyway, we will know for sure in the coming days how it affect the performance of the car.
However, I was not able to install the alternator pulley. I can't remove its bolt without a proper tool. Btw, this lightweight crankshaft pulley only works for the JDM 5th gen legacy 2.5i and 2.5GT. But I've found out when I ordered the stretch belt from US that this will probably work for the USDM latest generation Impreza, WRX and Outback as these cars also shared the same parts or stretch belt. |

I've drive around town and on the highway today. I can definitely feel the car can accelerate much faster and runs much smoother than before. I can definitely feel the car was much lighter with lightweight pulley even than when I still have my old 17inch OEM wheel. We will know in the next few days how it will affect the fuel consumption. I'm sure it will be better. I'm really happy I've done this upgrade.

Congrats! Why can't we get one of these for the 3.6? How many people would have to commit to purchasing this before somone would make one for us?
