05 LGT VF52 with upgrades NOT TUNED
My car is an 05 Legacy GT 5MT.
Turbo gave out along with some piston rings shortly after I purchased it. I was trying to complete all the upgrades prior to the tune so I could get the most out of it. Currently installed .30 over/Weisco pistons&rings/ACL bearings/ARP studs/ VF 52 /DW 755 inj/ WB 255/ AEM cai/ invidia up/ gimmick CBE/ spec 2 clutch with lightweight FW/ COBB AP/ short shifter with all bushings. Question is, will I hurt anything driving at altitude with only an off the shelf stage 1 Cobb tune? I am setting up the tune for a few weeks out but need to drive the car now. Hoping for a downpipe prior to the tune but we'll see how it goes. |
That car will run like shit with big injectors and larger turbo with no tune.
|
Yes you will need something of a break in tune regardless because of the injectors. I would personally put a few miles on the new block before power tuning as well.
Nice setup, i would definently get a free flowing dp to enjoy the mods. Glad to see another local. Dave |
VF52 on OEM DP? I've never heard of such a thing... but I guess it works on the current WRX.
Get a tune. |
At the very least, they have to give you an intermediate map of some sort with the injectors scaled. I'd hook up a compressor line to the wg actuator to limit yourself to wg boost too.
|
If he gets that intermediate map, he can also have them set the WD to 0. That way he wouldn't have to run the vacuum hose from the compressor to the wastegate
|
they should but I just wanted to be safe.
|
I did run a break in tune from M** motorsport for the first 1000 miles that had almost no boost and made sure to change the oil frequently. I am currently at 3400 miles on the new motor and ready to see what it can do. The dyno tune still has to be scheduled but I don't want to damage anything while driving it in the meantime. Thanks for all the responses. I am new to my area and haven't found many Subie people yet.

your fuel trims must look terrible. probably maxed out with pulling fuel, unless they adjusted for those injectors.

Sounds like your already running a break in tune so thats good. Stick with that till you get tuned, the cobb stg 1 would run like garbage because of the injectors.
You have a pm Dave |
Altough I have never used him as a tuner. Dave from Cryo is very helpful via PM and has great reviews as a tuner I think it would be in your best interest to meet up with Dave and sort it out.
|
Currently located in Castle Rock. I'll check in with Dave to see what he thinks.
