Other cars that were considered??
Just wondering for you all that ended up with a Legacy.... Was there another car that you considered but obviously you didnt end up with??
I attempted to get an insane deal on a toyota camry v6 se model..... I was going for $1000 under invoice which was something like $23800!! no one went for it..... But I ended up getting that type of deal with my Legacy Sport which was $27,700 msrp and got for 24K OTD with everything included!! |

04-07 WRX wagon
WRX STI 00-02 Audi S4 didn't see any Spec's in the area or I would have gone with that. Which I regret every day. |
Audi A3......very hard to find fully loaded AWD for decent money.

yeah, having an 06 sti and 11 wrx I had my fill of HP and high octane gas and boost burning a hole in my pocket!! Plus I would end up modding the crap out of those cars and ended up being scared to drive them fast worrying about something breaking!!!
the camry DID seem nice and it was fast.... but the toyota salesman just didnt seem that down for moving untis.... they were not budging much on price. |

When I was looking at getting my 05, I was casually considering a Forester XT or a Volvo V70R. Glad I didn't get either. Kind of wish I had gotten the LGT wagon I was looking at as well, but the 05 sedan I got was 2/3 the cost. Happy with the Spec.B I have now, although I often wish I had more cargo space.

I was actually looking for a 50k-60k miles Nissan Maxima SE 6spd loaded up last spring. I almost bought one that was perfect with nav but sold so quick I never got a chance to get to it. I also looked at an 05/06 Altima SE-R. I knew of the LGT, but when a couple months went and I couldn't find a Maxima to fit my criteria I peaked a little more at LGT's. I found one local just slightly above my budget and went for it.
LOL, didn't realize it would turn into the project it has. Within 1k miles of ownership I discovered it had a broken ring land, but can't wait to get it back next week. It will basically be a new car now, and it was a blast to drive stock. Love the awd, I really love the looks and interior, and it's a fun car to drive. I also like the LGT forum and info available, and the great vendors we have to support the car. Now with a mild stage 3, it should all be even better :) |
When I was looking, I also considered a BMW M3, Mazdaspeed6, Volvo S60R, Saab 9-5 Aero, and Dodge Charger R/T.

I thought about a Mazdaspeed 6, Volvo S40, and Audi A4
Welcome to the site! |
When I bought my 05 LGT 5MT wagon new in 2004, I also cross-shopped the Volvo V50 T5 AWD 5MT wagon. I really glad I didn't buy one of those. The Passat 4-Motion wagon was a no-go for me because it was only available with an automatic. I felt the 328xi wagon and A4 Avant to be too small and too expensive.

I wanted AWD, and a manual transmission was a priority. I am also extremely picky about AWD bias and engine layout. I was actually not thinking I was going to get another Subaru, but it ended up being the best choice for me. I was really thinking about an STi when I found a solid deal on a Spec B. I looked at:
BMW 330xi or 530xi - Manual transmissions, rear biased AWD and I6 engines made these at the top of my list. As cool as the twin-turbo straight 6 in 335's are I got scared off by the HPFP failure stories so I was only looking at naturally aspirated, AWD manual models (extremely hard to find). As soon as I heard newer BMW's don't come with dip sticks I quit looking. Volvo S60R - Front biased AWD and transverse engine configuration were not ideal. Mini Clubman S All4 - Front biased AWD and less than stellar reliability ratings... and its kinda goofy. Infiniti M35x - Auotmatic only and priced like a german car. But it had Rear-biased AWD. Acura TL SH-AWD - Ugly, and super expensive. The SH-AWD is cool, but I feel like its just using gimmicks to make up for an unbalanced car. Dodge Charger AWD - At the time I could only get it with an auto and a V6. Plus its super heavy. I know I should have looked at Audi's, but I know too many people that have/had one and would not buy another one. |
Acura TL AWD
Lincoln MKS Jeep Rubicon-impulse After having 2 Subarus prior I was hooked, TL was tempting but I didnt feel I was getting much more for my money, also having a pretty much all black interior from dash to floor I wanted something more. I hands down love my 3.6r Limited over the TL AWD except for lack of power. |
