Isn't this the closest to direct fit?

Oregon OBXT 12-26-2012 08:32 AM

According to Perrin, it fits the 08+ WRX and 05-09 LGT. However... it relocates the BOV port to the rear about 1". So it's not an 'easy' fit. I probably could have got it to fit had I removed the intake manifold. Trying to fit it from underneath the intake just wasn't going to happen on the OB, maybe the LGT is better?

You also need to cut your PCV hose and jumper the connector. This is, however, is easy relative to the BOV problem.

Haven't received it yet. UPS must be slacking in this winter weather.

I'm going to try not to. I'm just going to loosen the Mani enough to lift up and pull the inlet out. If that doesn't work I'm going to pull the whole thing. I'll have lots of time and beer so I'm not concerned. I just want it done right the first time.

Don't think 'loosen' is an option. Perrin has directions on their website for both methods. Removal requires draining coolant. IIRC, their method has you pull the BOV hose to the front of the manifold to make the connection and then slide both under the mani.

If you are talking about removing the IM from the TGVs, you wont have much room the fuel lines that go to TGVs are bolted to the bottom of the IM, and are a bitch to get around. Plus if you just loosen and raise the TGVs Im not sure you would be able to get the gaskets over the dowels w/o a fight. just my .02

I just did this two weeks ago when I replaced my IM Gaskets. It's tight but it can be done. Only took about 1.5 hours. Doing the same procedure would afford me a little wiggle room for the Inlet removal/install. Worst case scenario is I have to remove the IM completely which isn't much more work.
