Worst time you broke the legacy

So lets try this ..
Have you ever broke your legacy ?
While driving, at the worst time possible, etc.
And post a pic of it broken .

Lets hear some stories .

Lets start with me ...
Driving on the turnpike doing 70, and my axle and tie rod end snapped. YUP. I think we can all figure out what happened after that.

Haven't really broken it yet. Lost a condenser to a rock on the interstate, had the axle boot puke, and after I went stage 2 the t/b hose was loose so It was leaking boost. No major breakage so far :spin: Just can't stop pissing money away on it,most things i've replaced didn't need replacing haha.

Also there's no pictures in here :iam:

I came home for the holidays to NC (was living in Montreal) and was a stopped light on a bypass. ss camaro next to me at the light so I decided to beat his ass. Launched hard and heard a shotgun blast. Next thing I knew I couldn't shift into 2nd gear so I skipped it to keep up with him. Long story short I destroyed 2nd gear without being in it. Then had to make the trip back up to Montreal without 2nd gear. More annoying than anything since these cars have more than enough power to skip it.
Happy ending though, the subaru swap shop installed a 2012 sti 6mt, sti axles etc. and my car couldn't be happier.

Well I do not own a legacy , but I do own a subaru . Anyway it was in my rhd converted s13 that this happened in . Bad news

Spun a bearing on my 05. 20k later, busted a ringland.

Plenty of people on here have broken their Legacies in much more spectacular ways, though.

If we are talking non-Legacies, broke my clutch on my G20 on the track 1000 miles from home, swapped in a used clutch, then had it go out of adjustment and kill 5th gear on the way home. That was the straw that broke the camel's back on that car. I also had the alternator harness come apart on that car, among many other problems. Never left me stranded, though.

Nope. Never.

What causes a axle to snap?

PeterJMC 12-11-2012 08:13 PM

I was backing my car into my driveway when something popped and liquid just started spewing everywhere. The power steering lines ended up damaged due to rubbing up against the downpipe. It sat in the driveway for months until I replaced the lines. That was the quickest fix ever.

Posting in this thread might jinx the owners.

The only main thing to go wrong were some tranny bearings that went bad an caused a crazy whir like a sewing machine and got louder the faster I went.

Repaired under warranty but the dealer put in Forester bearings instead and the de problem came back after 6 months.

I almost put the wagon in a lake. While on fire.

Repaired a second time- with correct bearings- and it's been trouble free for years.

OEM turbo. Still running great after almost 8 years as of Feb 2013.

And tread nicely everyone. Any derailment of this one and you get the BMX.

:)

In my case, the boot being ripped was the start of it .. And the day I was going to replace it .. Well it snapped.
Lack of grease in the axle .

famaya26 12-11-2012 08:44 PM

How long was it ripped for?
