Help please car broke down..
I have a 2006 legacy gt auto, I've had it for about 5 months and didnt opt for any warrenty when i did get it. was as-is...There hasent been any problems with it those whole 5 months and no sign that there was going to be a problem. well i was heading down the road when i noticed that it wasn't shifting but reving up to about 3k. So I kept going about 50 yards to see if it was just acting strange, and if it would shift and go away. It started to make a weird sound which sounded like it was coming from the trans... so i pulled over and put it into park at which point the engine died out on me. i tried to start it agian but wouldnt start. i have no clue what it could be. Any ideas of where to start? so for the lengthy post just trying to give as much detail on the problem.

1. hopefully you had it flat bedded to a shop and not towed with back wheels on the ground.
2. sounds like your transmission. 3. good luck and let us know what they find! |
Yeah got it flat bedded back to my house at 12am. woo. I'm going to barrow a code reader from my friend and hopefully start to track down the issue. Hopefully its a bad relay or something not so expensive.

i doubt the tranny would cause the engine to stall. and not start.
what most common is the turbo charger dieing and then the engine chews its self apart. |
Start with checking your transmission fluid? Color, smell, is it low?
|
Sometimes with these cars the muffler bearings tend to clog up causing massive amounts of backpressure in the exhaust system which causes way to much pressure within in the cylinder walls.....ie the pistons have trouble moving. I would start there. Good luck.

Ok so im taking it to the shop tomorrow and having them look at it, i think it could be the timing belt.
|
hopefully not, or else you'll be extremely lucky if your valves arent bent.
|
I know i have my fingers crossed its only a belt
|
I took a short video of it the next day after i got it towed back home.

only a belt...

You'll be needing a 22mm socket, a 10 and 14mm, and about 5K.
Good Luck Mac That being said, it doesn't sound like an easy fix. Take it to a shop and have them diagnose it. the video is too short for any reasonable troubleshooting but doesn't sound good, at all. |
sound like its knocking ..
need new engine .. |
well its at the shop and i should know either today or tomorrow what it is and how much pain its going to cause me lol
